A credit card security department... wanted to check if i made some purchases, and helped me put a hold on the payments.  Did not ask for any personal identifying information and were very friendly.. Just asked if i new of a company called ebay, and If i had made any purchases there lately.  Told me there were suspisious charges on my cc from ebay.com.  put a hold on my credit card, but never asked me for my credit card info or address or anything else, seemed very ligit.

i got a call from them today.  i had donated 50 dollars to the red cross, and not more than 45 minutes later this risk management company called to verify i was the one who used my card.  all they asked for was my last name to verify it was me.  apparently criminals filter money through the red cross website, kind of despicable, no?

Yep, definitely a legit number.  Called them back after reading this info here and all she asked for was the spelling of my last name.  She was very friendly and gave me full details of two attempted transactions at a WalMart in TX (I'm in CA, and never shop at WalMart to boot!) that they had blocked.  No account information was requested, and she actually told me to call my bank to verify and request a new card.  The Bank was able to verify those attempted charges and my card is now dead.  Bummer for the pain of going without a card for a week, but better than having a false charge of $863.84 cents go through!

Will also verify the validity... answer their call or call them back immediately.   There is absolutely no "fishing for info" on their part... all you do is verify your last name & then are asked to verify recent charges.  My scenario involved a pre-authorization for $1.25 several weeks back from a terminal that was active for 1 day only... and then an actual charge of $51.25 through PayPal two weeks after that pre-auth.  They permanently deactivated the card while on the phone at my approval.

They helped me also.  Like Sarah above, my card was also charged at a Wal-Mart in Texas (I live in MA).  They froze the card, then I spoke with my bank to clear the charges.

We received a call from this company 800-830-1925 Metavante and were immediately suspicious however, we called and it turned out that they were ligitimate and informed us that someone was using our Business ATM card in Mylasia - now we've never been to Mylasia and no one from our company has either.  We filed a report with out Bank and had our ATM/Credit Cards turned off.  The withdrawals had not even posted to our account yet.  However, our bank did let us know that Metavante was the corporation that created the banking software for our Banks computer.  Call them and then call your bank and have your bank call them as well.  We now have an investigation going and should get all our money back.  Thanks, Metavante 800-830-1925

I received a phone call asking to call 800-830-1925 regarding my credit card.  I spoke to a representative and she just wanted to confirm some charges that I had made overseas on vacation last week.  I didnt have to give any account information at all.

Yeah, if this company calls you, make sure you call back as soon as possible. Totally legit. They called to warn me about my ATM card being used for purchases overseas. Risk Management is actually VISA, who monitors usage on your ATM or Visa cards. They watch for unusual usage. Suffice it to say, they called to let me know that someone overseas pretty much emptied my checking account, with several $500 purchases one after the other. Thank God for FDIC insured funds. I'll get it all back, but make sure you call them back if you get a call.

This is a legit number, call them back asap. Somebody got a hold of my card number apparently and was testing a small transaction and it was flagged and they called me. They shut my card down before any more damage could be done.

This call is the Real Deal. I hope that nobody ever gets a call from these people, but if you do, call them back!

I called them back and all they asked for was the phone number that they had called and left the message at. They asked for my son, and I explained that I was his father and that my son is currently deployed in Afghanistan. She asked if I was his Power of Attorney, and I told her, "no, but my wife is". She explained that she was not able to give me details, but from what she pulled up on a screen it was obvious that his CC was being misused, and that the issuing bank had froze the card and he should contact his Bank ASAP.

We will get word to him. Hopefully it's not too late.
Believe me, our soldiers work darn hard for what little pay they get. We will make SURE that if the scumbags are caught that they will feel the full effects of the law.

Same situation as gfxdave99 listed above.  My ING Mastercard debit card had been used to run a "test" transaction of $9.10 by Link Services.
The person I spoke to asked if it was my purchase.  When I told her no, that I had alredy filed a dispute with ING, she advised to me call ING and cancel my card immediately.  She never asked for any account numbers or social security number, only my name.

This number is legit!  Call them back and save yourself some trouble....and money.

got a call from 800-830-1925... it was a recorded message requesting to call the number back to verify recent activity on one of my debit cards.  i was skeptical and did not call at that moment.  checked my card activity online and on one of my cards there was a $2.95 pending "signature-based" charge from a company i never heard of "bennu technologies llc" for a purchase i never made.  i eventually called the number back, they just asked what number the original message was left on, then they asked if my name was "____" and proceeded to inform me that there was a suspicious charge that they wanted to verify.  sure enough, it they asked me about that bennutech transaction.  they then advised me to contact my financial institution to have them cancel and reissue my card.  i did that and also filed a claim to dispute that charge.

Got a call from this number tonight.  They asked for my phone number.  Knew my first name, the bank where my card was issued and last 4 digits of the card number.  They told me that someone tried to use my card in Florida at a gas station.  They told me to call my bank in the morning to cancel my card.  I didn't want to wait so I called my bank right away, reached the emergency line, and canceled.

Even if this company is legit, it still freaked me out that they knew my bank, card number and first name.  You can't be too cautious.  Call your bank right away and cancel.

they were awesome - called my bank ING and they said that they contract with this company to watch for suspicious activity.  ING said the company is Medivanti - they answer the phone as Risk MGMT.  The company saw an activity for $3.49 from Star G Farms on my debit MC.  they said someone stole my number and that post was a test to see if my card was usable and it was an immediate red flag.  they stopped my card and i called ING back and they are reissuing a new card - pretty cool if you ask me!

Got call with message stating a problem with my debit card. Fearing phising, I called my bank they are legitimate - banks use them.  They notified me within an hour of a bogus transaction.  My card was compromised from a grocery store database leak.

    Wow
I got a call from them at 8am yesterday (I'm a night person, so I let it leave a message). When I listened it sounded way too vague to be legitimate so I just forgot about it.

Today my card was getting declined even though I knew there was plenty of money there (I checked online after the first decline). After I got home I looked at my online statements and noticed a charge that I couldn't exactly recall making. The problem is that I buy so much stuff online that I can barely keep track of what's what half the time.

I called, absolutely no fishing. All they wanted was the phone # that they left the message on. Asked about the same charge I noticed, said it was from a known fishing test site. They're killing my card and I'll be getting a new one soon once ING answers their phones again (Night person).

I'm really amazed at whatever analysis systems they run. I make at least a few online purchases a week with this card. Used it semi-recently on vacation in Mexico(called in advance) and recently used it to deck out my living room with couches and entertainment. But a little $8 charge sent up the red flag. Nice.

Very legit, had an unauthorized purchase from an online surf store. All they ask is your phone number. Extremely great service!
