- Diana| 2 repliesCalls about 2- 4 times a day. Phone rings once and then they hang up. DO NOT CALL BACK. I've heard on our local news that there is a scam where these numbers call and quickly hang up making you call them back, which then they put you on hold and charge you for the minutes. There is another one going around where they call and leave a voice mail saying you've won this amount of money go to this site and enter your info to receive. These are scams going around.

- Erik replies to Dianauh....this number is definitely a debt collector..ERC...I called them back and it was regarding GE bank lines of credit..she says they handle all of the GE accounts...paypal/ebay etc etc..im assuming the probably purchase these debts exclusively
I knew the debt was current..and was able to verify receipt conformation with them and received email conformation as well.
very helpful overall..but obviously its because I was willing to work with them. - pearlCalls about twice a week, rings once and hangs up. No voicemail....very annoying.
- EricCalled, went to my voicemail. Left a message with nothing but hold music and thanking me for continuing to hold. Message was 4 minutes long!

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: http://consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php - This-is-BSI have 2 phones, one personal, one from work. They've called my work phone several times. Not my personal phone, my work phone. Never leaves a message. I work for a financial organization. I f we DO have debts ( and that's a VERY LARGE *IF*), they would not be calling me about it. I'm just a worker-bee. Obviously a junk call. Will be blocking them.

- Scam Buster| 1 replyOver the past 3 weeks these guys, (800) 861-9732, called me 12 times. The majority of the times I didn't answer and but they din't leave voice mails though a few times they would say "Hello!" a couple or so times. The times that I answered, they hung up without saying anything.
Therefore, these guys pretty much appear a straightforward scammers. Otherwise, if they weren't, they wouldn't hang up on people when they answer or they would have left a voice mail. Utter scam and nuisance!- Call type: Scam suspicion
