They called on a debt I already paid a few months back. when I told them that. they hung up on me. but then... kept calling back. the debt is paid. it's on my credit report.
I can't help but wonder if they're phishing over the phone.
why dont you dispute it --what you do is send copies to all three credit Bureaus ---And report the they will deleted or change it to pay.
call annual credit report at 1877-322-8282 you will get all three reporta free you have one free report once a year so you can check whats in it. then you dispute whats on there to correct the problem.
I did some more research. Allegedly a collection agency out of Sacramento CA. Note the ad below placed in the Sacramento Bee Newspaper. Note the email and phone number. why are they in Elk Grove and Colorado? hmmmm. their servers are in Florida.. and they're using "nameservers.com" as their DNS servers. sounds phishy to me.

They called and said it was urgent that I called back Diane Jones at this 866 number. I called back from another phone and someone answered the phone and it sounded like the Washington Post during 9/11 in the background. On the voice mail she had to stop and ask what my name is. My credit reports are heavily secure and I have no outstanding debts so they need to leave my a** alone/.
I called them and informed them I was recording the call and that if they call one more time the local police and FBI would be contacted. They thought i was joking. they called the next day. I immedatly contacted my lawyer and he in turn contacted the FTC at the moment it looks like I will be a rich man...again!!!! I love the collection people that send letters. I send them a letter from the "template" on the FTC web site, I send it certified and signature request. then after they call or write again I call my lawyer. I have sued over 7 of these people and the money was sweet. take advantage of the system. get rich off these nuts.
Really?! How do you do that? What is the FTC? How much does it cost to sue them? I would like to know as I get several calls a day and would like it to stop. Did you actually owe anyone money or were these people just calling to try to sucker you? I've gotten to the point where I don't answer my phone at all unless I know the number.
Whether you owe a debt or not, you have no legal obligation to communicate with a debt a collector. And if you inform a debt collector to cease all communication with you, then the debt collector is bound by federal law to comply with your request. If the debt collector contacts you more than once after being told to cease communication, then you have grounds for a lawsuit, and you should file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), your state's attorney general and the Better Business Bureau. Here are the links to do that:
Many consumer law professionals work on contingency should they take your case. Check out these links for more information on protecting yourself against shady debt collectors and, if need be, suing them:
The woman who call my home said her name is lexus lovelair or lexus lovlair. Very annoying about repeated call that she has an urgent message. I never ask anybody special, just call for urgent message. What should I do?
Just got a call today at work from this number. Lexus Locklear, who happens to be a porn star? Wtf is a porn star doing making calls for debt collectors?
Had a message from this number at home from Lexus Locklear. Looked it up and the name belongs to a porn star. Great. Another message yesterday. Didn't say who she wanted to talk to or why she was calling, just wanted a call back. I called this morning but never got a hold Ms. Pornstar, but I told another woman my number (wouldn't give any other info). She asked if I was Mr. Costello. I said no, there are not Costello's at this number. She mentioned a first name, I said no again, and she said she'd take my number off the list. We'll see if that really happens.
Someone called and I didn't even understand what they said. Miss. Dori or something? I'm not calling these people back or providing any info after reading all of the other stories!
That Lexis Lockleer beeeooootch keeps calling here too! Never asks for anyone specific. Needs to talk to me about an "urgent matter". Sultry little snake. Well I am just glad to know that my hubby isnt cheating. LOL. Think I will keep all her calls on my answer machine....just incase I need to sue er something. I KNOW my credit and my hubbys is whistle clean. My kids are all grown and gone. So there's no reason for any collection person to call me. I am wondering if it is a debt collection scam. Why else would you use sleezy sultry tactics?
They called about a debt that had been paid a year prior and they refused to believe me. They started in on me with all the strong arm techniques, saying I owed this debt, they put two guys on the phone to intimidate me, next they said some not very nice things to me and tried to humiliate me by calling me names. When I told them it must have been a glitch I would call the original creditor myself they insisted I couldn't do that. Next they said I had four hours to comply with them or else. When I said or else what they just kept saying I had four hours to comply. I said "clarify the language I'd like to hear this threat directly" they said they would take further action. I asked, what's that mean? One of them mumbled that he couldn't say he wasn't a lawyer. To any and all of you I say rent the movie Maxed Out. It will show you the inner workings of companies like this. They are the scumbags on the bottom of the manure pond.
These idiots called my next door neighbors also, who happen to be an elderly couple with health issues, and they wrote down the call information and left it at my door while I was at work. I do not believe this is even legal! Then they somehow got my son's cell # (we don't even have the same last name!) and left him a message about trying to contact my ex-husband about this alleged debt, even though we have been divorced for more than sixteen years... I may file suit, if for no other reason than invasion of privacy.

I have no clue who this number belongs too. They called me after 10 PM and I didn't answer as I did not know this number. I have no clue who they are or what they want. It concerns since I'm on the governments do not call list that I am still getting calls like these.
I work as a receptionist. I was getting recorded calls from a Lexus Locklear telling me to call 1-800-866-2528 extention 2248. I finally called and asked them what it was regarding. I ended up getting into a 10 minute argument with some rude debt collector. He told me that he was collecting a debt for one of the shop employees here. It's company policy that the shop employees can only get calls in emergencies. I told him that he would have to call him at home and asked him to take our number off of his list. He flipped out, told me that he had tried that already and asked me how he was supposed to get a hold of this guy. I explained to him that that's his job not mine. He got even more loud and even more rude. I finally asked to speak to a manager. He stammered for a minute and said, "Uhhh, Ummm I am the manager!" So I told him that I'd like to speak to his supervisor. He started apologizing and told me that he would take the number off the list. When I didn't let up, he told me that they were all busy right now and and hung up the phone.
I called back a few minutes later and got a hold of a supervisor and let her know what happened. She apologized profusely and said my number hadn't been removed but she would take care of it and deal with him as well.
Do some people actually think that type of behavior is acceptable at a work place?
