They asked for my boyfriends sister who hasn't lived here for over 2 years, asked if I could pass a phone number to her.  I asked who she was with and was told that is was personal business and that it didn't matter.

Identified herself as Lisa with UCB; suspect this is a scam collector who "bought" a more-than-a-decade-old debt that I tried to repay twice to the legitimate party, but was told it was "off the books" and no funds could be accepted.  Received threatening phone calls and mail from Georgia-based group regarding this about six months ago.  Talked to my attorney, who said they had broken so many laws it was ridiculous and to not worry about it or have any contact with them.

They caller was named Rochelle from UCB and they have been calling about a bill.  I have repeatedly asked them not to call me at work but they continue.  I asked for their address so I could mail a letter telling them not to call at work and will not give it to me.  They tell me they are going to call human resources at my work as to threaten me.

    UCB - verizon collections
This post is a bit long.... read on!

Call and ask for Harold "Sam" Rickard – Owner and Chairman if you are not satified with answers from the reps or ask the rep for Sam's number.

    Notes:
Verizon wireless uses UCB for collections. They are relentless. They will call your cell # and your home # until they are satisfied with the results.

They will not or care not to discuss payment directly to verizon wireless. I found this out after I had my account transfered to my ex's name(which they glad to do without even a lick of personal information from me!) Verizon did not notify me of a current balance due at the time of switching account ownership. Calls to Verizon to resolve issue vary from avsolutely no knowledge to some concern. Push up through the UCB management chain to reolve issue fully. Be a pain and do not relent util you get an answer from someone who knows what they are doing at UCB/Verizon Wireless!

I had a run-in with UCB a while back when I had an overdue bill with Verizon.

The amount I owed Verizon was something like $520 or something, which was 3 phonelines... they had a VERBAL agreement with me over the phone less than a week before I shipped off to Army Basic Training in February 2006 (talked to them late January 2006,) and agreed to hold off sending the account to collections for a month so that I could get the money to pay them.

Less than 2 weeks later, I called home, and was told I had a collections notice from UCB for $1284... I had them send it to me. When I did, I called them... and considering the time-limit I was working with (Basic Training rules,) I talked them down to letting me make 4 monthley payments. At the time, my ex-fiancee was in control of my banking back home, and I had them call her, they told her that I agreed to paying the monthly payment amount EVERY 2 WEEKS!!! She told them off, and said that it would be set like I set it, or they could go to $#$%.

All and all, I don't agree with the collection amount jumping up more than $500... I truly believe I got hosed by UCB, and I hope they read this, because you can bet that I will look for anything to send that company rolling downhill!

I got a call from a Mr. Anderson at 1-800-867-3104 a couple of months ago. It's definitely UCB. I called using a foreign accent and broken English. They claimed that they were looking for me to pay an old bill to Verizon Wireless, with whom I no longer do business and had already paid my final bill in full. Then I told them that, God willing, I will put a stop to their harassing calls. They apparently took me for an Islamic extremist and never called back. Good riddance!

I have no problem with debt collectors who play by the rules...and some at UCB are okay to deal with. However, many of them are violating fair debt collection laws and clearly are the bottom-feeders of society(refer to "UCB rep" above). By the way, I'm pretty sure I've found the owner "Sam Rickard's" home number and address...NOT sure though. Wouldn't hurt to call and find out though, eh? Just don't do anything illegal like the scumbags at UCB(which once again, isn't everyone there)

This is info readily available to the public online...so I'm a bit skeptical that this is where he actually resides...but, what the hell.

There was a strange message on our phone. I couldn't even make out what it was for… the guy mumbled. TThis was the message: The message is for "they named my son". This is Arison. (I think he said that… he mumbled his name). They asked to call regarding an important business matter at 1-800-867-3104 and gave a reference number.

I tried calling and the message on the answering machine ALSO mumbles… they say the company name.. Sounded like ECB? but I looked the number up and found it is UCB - and the recording says to leave your contact information.

My son didn't recognize this.. So I called them and left a message that I got their message and if they needed something they have our number.. I didn't give them any information. We don't even have a collection with UCB. Unbelievable..
