Left message at my place of employment.  The recording says something like "We have a message for ... (doesn't say anything)", and then says "please reference number .."  (again it is blank and then just hangs up).

Says it's a debt collector, but I have no bills I'm behind in.

I had a temporary cell number while getting my carrier changed and they called the temp number repeatedly! Never told me who the he!! they were - I finally added them as a contact named a$$h0le and refused to pick up a single call ever again. Idiots didn't even let me tell them they were calling a  temp number - good luck to the next person who gets my now-former temp number! -_-

Received call from this number.  They left a messages saying they were with Enhanced Recovery Co. attempting a debt collection and need information.  I'm not calling back since I have NO DEBT.  I've not yet researched the company.

Received call from this number at my work and on my cell phone within two minutes of each other. They left message on my cell with name and then reference # cut off. Spoke to representative when called my work and wanted money paid up front right away; when explained could not do that got supervisor on phone who started to harrass me and asking personal questions when stated would have to speak with my spouse; even to point of asking when he gets off work. I finally hung up and informed them not to call at my work number ever again. They are not allowed to harass you like that, who do they think they are?!

I keep receiving phone calls on my personal cell phone and my government cell phone.  The messages that the automated system leaves don't include who the message is intended for and it also doesn't leave the reference number that they say it is for.  Then the call terminates.

Got many calls from the former owner of my phone number. Called back the automated system gives the option to remove your number from the list. Hoping it works

This number called my cell phone.  I don't answer 800 numbers, but they left a message saying they were a collection agency. If I could find out who it is without talking to them, I would send them a registered letter saying that I wish to be contacted by letter only.

i get at least one call from 800-875-5279 each day. every call is the same with a computerized voice telling me that chelsea with enhanced recovery services would like me to return her call at 800-617-0049.

i am very tempted to change my voicemail greeting to something like "calls from enhanced recovery are no longer accepted here. if i am an employee of enhanced recovery, then i agree to pay $25 in damages for each time that i contact this phone number." this company is based out of jacksonville florida, so it looks like i would have to bring the lawsuit to collect these funds in federal court since i do not live in florida.

The Caller ID says "Unavailable" but gives the number of 800-875-5279.  It hangs up on my answering machine and when I answer a automated voice says, "Please hold for an important message from ERC."  Immediately followed by it hanging up!  This number keeps calling and I wish for them to stop.

    Obvious wrong number
The caller ID says "Unavailable", 800-875-5279 so after checking here, I called the number and got a automated voice with ERC and several options including option 1 getting the opportunity to input my phone number if calling a wrong number, so I did just that and was told to allow 24 hours for it to be removed from their system.  Certainly would be interesting if it turns out to be that easy.

I have had this phone number and current rental townhouse for about 15 years and yet the person who lived at this address just before but different phone number prompts all kinds of collections agencies to contact me trying to track down her bad debts because I live at her old address.  So bad debt is being sold off and/or she is continuing to wreak havoc and no one has a current address or phone number for her but how is that possible in today's information free access world with frozen credit, reduced credit and harder to get credit.  I try to do the right thing and save them the time to continually call me looking for her but they choose not to believe so on to the next collection agency round.

I got this call, but didn't answer.  However, from reading the posts, I know it's related to the modem that Time Warner left when I transferred my internet service.

That's good to hear.  Keep us posted on if/when you collect!  I wonder how you got their mailing address out of them - any tips for others in a similar situation?
