Received several calls, a woman with a horrible voice named Veronica request I call her regarding an important business matter.  SCAM!  Block this number from your phone.

Has been calling everyday from a 501 number and than she gives you a 1-800-882-9881 and her ext. where she can be reached. Knows all your information. People buy you information to scam you out more money even if you do owe a bill. Best thing to do is called that company if you have a bill. Why would they call you instead of sending you information. You can't hardly hear the lady. She gave me first name but no last name. Veronica. I believe it's a telemarket and a Scam. Returned a phone call. To 800 882 9881 with my cell. Originally called on land line.
the man wanted to know my first and last name and my phone number. i gave my full name which is too much information for him. he would not give me any information with regards to what this was about. Then I told him you have my phone no. You call me back. He asked me to verify and he was 1 digit off. i said you have the wrong number you called me before call me again. No one called back.
Rude and offered no info back me. SCAM.

This number keeps calling me to get in touch with a friend of mine. This isn't even his number! Don't know why their calling me.

Left a voice message on my cell phone with a reference number for debt collection, said it is a company called ERC that I do not recognize . None of my banks have this cell number. I did not call them back.

A woman left a message on my landline from a local number saying she was from ERC, a "debt collector" and then said I needed to call 800 882 9881 regarding a reference number they gave me. These people are scum...I mean scammers.

If she left a message, they are now required to do this by law:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

You should then:

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notion of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

No reason for debt collectors to be calling, either mistake or scam.

I get several calls a day that I don’t answer.  I do finally called them back this morning after requesting to be taken off their call list and they continued to call.  When I asked who they were and what they wanted the rude, very thick accented female stated she could not give me any information anbout the company until I told her my personal information such as address.  I stated she had my name and number and I wasn’t giving her more.  She said fine and I again asked her to take me off the call list.  I do not owe any debt collection therefore they should not be calling me.
