- Caller: Unknown Name
- DHThis number has also contacted my home but they don't leave a message so I don't answer it.
- SIC'EM| 2 repliesThis number is from Atlantic Credit and Finance, 2727 Franklin Rd SW
Roanoke, VA 24014.Phone: 540-772-7800 and 800-888-9479.
I heard they are violating the FDCPA, (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) all the time. They are leaving message to third parties that are unlawful. SEE BELOW WHAT THE LAW SAYS:
Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, FDCPA, debt collectors have strict guidelines for when and how they can communicate with you. If a debt collector leaves a message on your answering machine that even hints he's a collector, he's breaking the law. In that case, you can sue. Since debt collectors can't communicate with third-parties about your debt, they can't leave messages about your debt on answering machines that others have access to.

- dontcallme replies to PD| 1 replyThis call comes exactly after that autobot "Hello, this is Robert Carmichael, I have an important matter to discuss. Please press 1 to be connected with an agent. This is not a sales call." That call always goes to voicemail and this number always calls within seconds. So, obviously they are somehow connected.
They are a debt collection agency out of Illinois, which I understand is being sued by the State of Illinois. - S FROM TEXAS| 11 repliesChristine Reyes at phone # 1-800-888-9419 extension X7372 is calling my work
every day, I have reported her to the National Trade Commission for Consumer Advocacy, and am filing suit against the company for jeopardizing
my job.- Call type: Debt collector
- merceh94| 16 repliesThis call does come from atlantic Credit finance. The same name Christine Reyes called my job 3 times while i was out of the office. They then called a primary line and the president of my company answered! How embarassing. In a demanding tone she told him she has made numerous attempts to reach me and it was urgent they speak to me.I received the call and asked them to never call my work, so far they haven't but it's only been three days. My employer was upset with me because he thought it was a client. I straightened this out and had to explain the situtaion but it did put my job at risk. Even though I offered to make payment arrangements they said no, pay all or nothing. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY, don't give out personal info they will use it against you!!they demanded that i give up my my 401K to pay them. They also asked me to give them another number so they can harrass me there. I asked for their address so i can put my request to make arrangments in writing and they refused! I am seeking other options to pay with CCCS consumer counseling. If anyone knows of other options please post.

- Maurice Diaz| 3 repliesThey have called our number on several occasions. Sometimes 2 or 3 times per day. Always asking for someone who doesn't live here. Lately the name is Adolfo Romero.
Every time they call I tell them they have the wrong number and I ask them to remove it from their database.
I work at home and answering the phone is a necessity.
Today I asked the lady to let me talk to her supervisor and she yelled at me; WHY?, WHY?, several times. Very disturbing.
How can I stop this?- Call type: Debt collector
- unknown replies to dontcallmeIt's not in Illinois, it's in Virginia. It is a debt collection agency.
- Doug| 1 replyThey call and hang up daily, sometimes 6 times a night. I owe nothing. Sometimes they leave a message on my machine to somebody who doesn't live here.
When I try calling them back, they put me on hold for over an hour so I cannot remove my name from their list. I guess they win.- Caller: Unknown Name
- Jener| 8 repliesOne of their peons called me on Wednesday, we fussed like children a few minutes, saying I owe HIM the money. I told him no, I owe the company money, NOT him. I told him he is harrassing me, he said NO, I'm just trying to get the money you owe us". I told him there is no US, cause I don't owe you. (that really seemed to tick him off when I kept saying that). I told him don't call me, he said, I'll call you tomorrow. hehe.
Well he did, he called 7 minutes of 9am. (tis tis), my BF answered the phone, told him to quit calling me, that I will be sending a certified letter and he hung up.
THEN, later that day about 5;25 pm, the 800-888-9419 number showed and they asked for me and then they hung up. It was a woman.
For all those scared and tired of all the calls. Get the collectors phone, address and all that jazz. Send them a return receipt certified letter telling them they had better not call anymore and tell them either you refuse to pay the bill or you will pay when you get it. (I know we've probably told them all....we will give when we get...but they don't listen to that). But tell them not to call, or you refuse to pay. They are required by law to stop calling.
Keep track of any and all calls. Time, date, what they said, etc etc. If they continue to call, take them to small claims court for harrassment. They offer templates online for letter to send to them.
Afterall, when you tell them you don't have the money, what good does calling everyday or even every week going to do? It's not like by the following day, thousands of dollars are going to magically appear. They just like harrassing you.- Call type: Debt collector
- jen| 1 replyfor those that really want these calls to stop....
get the mailing address of the collection caller...send them a cease and desist letter. Sample shown here http://credit.about.com/od/debtcollection/a/ceaseanddesist.htm
Send to them via Certified Mail with return receipt. (cost about $4)
This will keep the collection company from calling you. Although I have been told it does not keep the original company the money is owed to from calling, just the collections company. If they continue to call, keep all documentation, keep records of calls and go file with Federal Trade Commission as well as filing in your local small claims court. This WILL stop them!- Call type: Debt collector
- no name replies to S FROM TEXASif you need me for any or help just let me know.
- yourdoingthistoyourselfs replies to merceh94| 15 repliesIf you owe a debit and you know it don't get upsit when someone calls you to collect on that debit. If you used a credit card that you knew you couldn't pay for then this is the out come. Did you really think you wouldn't get calls when you stopped paying.... that it would be forgotton???? Be a men or a women about it and pay up what you owe. Most of the time they can take of late fees that the credit card company add to your debit. Oh and by the way cccs and company such as these most collection company don't work with them because they might pay your crediters 35 dollars a month and thats not good enough. You lost your choice to pay those small monthly payment when you stopped pay the credit card company. Cause if you never stopped paying then it would be in collectons. Everyone of you know that I'm right but you just don't want to pay. So stop taking it out on people who are doing their jobs and do yours PAY YOUR BILL!!!!
- yourdoingthistoyourselfs replies to Jener| 7 repliesThen why did you use the credit card if you couldn't pay for it??? That is no one fault but your own. Where did you kearn your laws on collecting cause your wrong. Harrassment is callong without a reason and you can't just tell them to stop calling then take them to court because they won't By law a collection company can call you up to 12 times a day SO GET OVER YOURSELF AND PAY YOUR BILL!!! By the way have you even tryied to find the money to pay it.......
- yourdoingthistoyourselfs replies to jenSo your not going to pay your bill that you owe.... That is the same as stealing Now there should be a law againts that Hope you don't teach your kids the same.....
- stupid people replies to yourdoingthistoyourselfsYou are some kind of sick and twisted, you should go to work for these people. there are many times where situations occur that a bill my get lost or you move and it does not follow you, this stuff happens but to have very rude obnoxious idiots call my over 80 year old mother about someone that she does not even know and accuse her of hiding for the person, they have scared her very seriously and they are being reported. Also, many times you have satisfied a debt but something gets screwed up and the company is wrong, it takes a wrath of god to get it cleared up.
- innocent person replies to yourdoingthistoyourselfsYou are really rather stupid if you don't think that collection companies can be wrong. I had paid the debt over three years ago and have proof but to call my work or my family and harrass them is completely out of line. I do not know how people like that look in the mirror at night, they are mean and nasty people. People like you and Atlantic collection are what makes this world such and unpleasant place to live.
- Fed up with rudeness replies to yourdoingthistoyourselfs| 4 repliesFirst of all, proofread your entry so you don't sound like such an idiot!
Secondly, a lot of us know we owe our debt and are trying to make arrangements with the companies so that they can retreive their money. The collection agencies do not have to demand the full balance, they can accept reasonable payments. It's a shame that these unfortunate people can't find more professional jobs and learn better customer service. They do not have to be threatening or harassing. They could save themselves alot of time if they would just make an arrangement with the person in the first place and not waste so much time making harassing phone calls.
Of course no one wants to talk to someone who is being threatening and rude. - indebt replies to Fed up with rudenessI know these people are just doing their jobs, but it's honestly pathetic. I had that stupid 000-000-0000 number call me (no joke) every two minutes. I know I'm not the only one in debt. And, there's no getting through to them whatsoever. Pay the whole thing or die. There's no other choice. I tried making a deal with Atlantic Credit asking them if I could pay $50 a month (my total debt is only about $400), and they said no they must have the entire $400. I only work part-time and cannot get another job (I've been applying, but haven't gotten any responses). So, how do they expect me to pay that when my paychecks aren't even that much?
- fedup replies to yourdoingthistoyourselfsWho wrote this? You must work for ACF. Not everyone that is behind on bills used their credit cards with no intention of paying them back. it must be nice to live in a world whre no one loses their jobs. Don't be such a jerk.
