Sometimes calls without leaving any message -- just a quiet steady tone a couple of seconds in length. Occasionally there's a speech-synthesized voice message claiming to be from Xcel Energy, asking for a call to be returned shortly (I seem to get the calls around 3:45 pm, asking that the call be returned by 4 pm), but they request someone by a name I don't recognize ("Marty Woods", maybe? it's very garbled).

Left a message saying the were Xcel and needed to speak to me immediately. I called back and got voicemail so I called Xcel directly. My account was not late which confirmed this was a scam, employee filed an internal Xcel report for me with this phone number.

Caller Id showed Toll Free.

Have been calling every few days different times.  Two rings, hang up!!   Need to find a job!

This is an automated call from XCell Energy regarding accounts.

Called a few minutes ago.  Two rings, hang up.

Called left message to call back. Just got my mail and guess what Xcel bill in mail showing all is cool. Probably ICIS collecting funds.

Got an automated call from this number saying it was the Xcel collections department and that my account was past due and if I didn't immediately rectify they would send me to collections.  Said the account number ended in 44243 (not my account number). Press 1 to make a payment.  I hung up and checked my account with xcel.  All paid up.  No past due balance.  Beware.

This IS a Legit Xcel Energy call, calling about a legit account.  Trying to convince yourself and/or others it's a scam or telemarketer is NOT true & doesn't change that fact.  Own it!  Making up these "stories/lies" only makes that person look ridiculous.  Just because it's a collections call, doesn't mean it's a scam.  Let's grow up out there.

so why is my mother getting this call and she doesn't even have xcell energy? this IS A SCAM!!!!!!!

Don't have an Xcel Energy account--total scam, beware

I got a automated voicemail from xcel saying that my account was passed due. I don't even have n account with xcel

I do have a past due bill with Xcell, however, this is not the customer service number that I have stored in my phone. I called it back, just to see what happens, and a lady answers the phone saying "Xcell energy, this is Lisa, how may I help you?"  I immediately hung up. I have called Xcell MANY times throughout my life and have NEVER gotten a person answering the call. True Xcell customer service is always automated and you have to push number to get to collections or customer service. I believe this is a scam, do not give them any money (even if you DO owe a past due amount), hang up and call 1-800-895-4999. This number IS Xcell energy customer service. Just be safe and call the number you know to be Xcell.
Also, Xcell recently put out a notice saying that scam calls in Texas and Oklahoma have increased drastically.

I just received a call from this number and they left a message but used my name and said they were from California medical? I live in Texas. All comments I've read are saying its an Xcel scam. So I'm afraid to call back. Hope its not a new scam.

This is a legit number from Xcel Energy. I have a rental house and they were calling from this number to confirm correct Landlord billing address.
