- MJG replies to cathy quinnPlease read the first 2 comments under this number. Then call your credit card company & file a fraudulent use complaint. THEN run your own virus & malware scans. These thieves probably put malware on your unit. Keep an eye on any banking information you had on the computer as well as your contact list.
BTW it is NOT Microsoft. - Corinne OttesonThese people called claiming to be Microsoft saying I had viruses and malware then transferred me to "Green Networking Zone" saying they could fix it for $319.99, but I had to send a check. My computers would be protected for life. Allegedly my entire network had been hacked and all my devices were infected.
- Caller: Microsoft/GreenNetworkingZone
- BobThis is a scam. They tell you there are network IP security issues on your system and want remote control of your computer to fix the problems, asking for several hundred dollars to do it and to pay for it via a check which they would have FEDEX pick up. I contacted Dell as they even had my service tag info. Dell told me one in five calls recently were about this scam. Don't let these people scam you!
- Caller: Geekbase LLC
- AnnSCAM.. do NOT SEND them money!
The say they are MICROSOFT and will fix your computer problem..NOT.. they are putting malware, spyware and whatever they can on your computer. I did not send them a check as I not longer use checks...they don not take credit cards or I probably would I given them that too. Now, they are calling and wanting their money..HANG UP ON THEM.
I filed a complaint with Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)- Caller: GeekBase LLC
