This number is linked to Paradise Destinations in Florida.  They are selling vacations.  I was called by them and told I was preselected and had won a vacation.  I didn't of course but was properly explained all the details and that I was being discounted and the cost was considerably less for me to stay at one of 3 hotels in Cancun Mexico.  I never reply and I guess I left my brain at work and did and gave my CC#.  I got all kinds of details of what I had bought and a website and a res. # and confirmation emails and such.  When I tried to call though, I panicked.  Noone is answering any of the numbers: 1-800-961-8354 or 1866-760-1843 in Canada where I am.  My MC is billed by Paradise Destinations.  They are a marketing firm for Sunset Dest. I believe, also called Cancun Vacations if I remember correctly.  I did get a call finally from Arturo at his desk in cancun working with a marketing firm there and he had all my info. on file and reassured me that I indeed have bought a 5 day stay at one of the Sunset resorts in cancun.  Hurricane Dean just passed south of them and they all for security reasons were not at work apparently.  I am not totally convinced yet.  confirm. to come by mail-7 bus. days--i feel stupid and have never fallen prey to they telemarketers b4.  I have been stressed to the max, was thinking of escaping to Mexico this winter so the call was timely and this is how they get you!!  It isn't a scam, it is a well developed marketing plan to get people to come to yes, their time share and buy.  I probably won't be able to get my money back but it seems legitimate and I will most likely go.  Look for my comments on TripAdvisor in months to come. IT'S A SCAM! DO NOT LISTEN PAST HELLO TO THE PARADISE DESTINATIONS CALL!
I had the same thing happen by the same company. I'm livid! In my view it is a scam. They outright lied to me. I asked them many many questions figuring I'd cover all possible concerns. I've never lasted more than 5 seconds on one of these calls either. But, they hit me at an odd moment of weakness.
I confirmed with three people - three of their people! - that it was all inclusive. The package I received said it is not. Their response was that I didn't confirm this with the taped "verifier". Why would I? This was the first thing all three people told me. I had no reason to question that part of it.
I was also told I had a choice of four hotels. The package says only two.
And I specifically asked the rating of the hotels and was told "5 star plus". This is an outright lie. Ratings I'm finding, other than on their site, are 2 or 3 star max!
Lastly, I told them I did not have access to internet while on the phone with them and didn't know the price of airfare to Cancun by itself - I had always booked as a package. They put me on hold and came back with "we've been getting our Canadian clients $4 - 450. We offer 40 - 50% off the listed price. And we encourage you to book through us to ensure the best prices". Well,it's a lot more. And I'm now told by the reservations people that after my call (and perhaps a few others) they are no longer allowed to say that! It's a lie!!
THIS 5 DAY TRIP WILL COST ME TWICE AS MUCH AS ANY 7 DAY PACKAGE! AND I HAVE TO SIT THROUGH A TIMESHARE SESSION ON TOP OF IT!!! This is the only thing I was advised of correctly on the phone.
IT'S A SCAM. DO NOT LISTEN PAST HELLO ON THESE CALLS!!!

      Did you make the trip.
I just bought the Paradise Destinations package. I received the info packet yesterday in the mail. Since there was not any real information I went to the web to find out more about my vacation and realize what I have done. Everything I have read on this web site is true.
Have you taken the trip yet, and is it work spending more money on airfare or should I just write this off to stupidity and go thru a travel and start over?

They said that the would do monthly payments on my cc and they haven't come off since i put some money down. I am not impressed that i got fooled with something like this. I just wanted to get away with no worries but it hasn't happened. And now after i bought this package (quote on quote). I am feeling that this is a scam and it is just a bunch of people working together. I talked to 3 different people and one of them meant to be a manager I guess.  If this was seriously legit they would have already sent me my package that I was meant to receive in the mail in 2 weeks and it has been a month and still nothing. For the reasons that I have mention I would not ever do this again. And if they say that you have won a trip then it should be free!

I would like to know if you are actually going on this vacation, have you booked air flight or have you found out any more about this, whether it is a scam or not.

These people sold 2 trips to Mexico and one trip to Florida to my husband, who has dementia. When I called to explain the situation to them, they said it didn't matter because they already have his authorization.  It just never dawned on me to take his charge card away from him. I have now, but now I have to fight to get my money back from these people.  I am also reporting them to the BBB.

Cant believe these people are still getting away with this!  Report them to every appropriate department you can.  Nothing is ever received by email like they promise and the amount comes out of your cc immediately. Hopefully you have reported them to your Bank and asked for the money to be refunded.  Cancel the CC also!   Eventually you should get your money back from  the Bank - we did!  I think so many people have reported them that it sends alarm bells to your Bank.  Do not just sit back and think that you have lost your money. Keep fighting.  Good luck.

My 80 year old mother was called yesterday and told she won a vacation.  She had filled out something in Macy's 6 months ago so they got her phone number.  It was the Sunset Group and two women were on the phone with her telling her stories of vacations and cheap airfares.  She was confussed (she's 80) and gave them her CC info.  I called the 1800 number right away and did get to speak to someone, but of course, all managers were in a meeting.  I explained that they were taking advantage of an old woman and i wanted a refund for her.  I was speaking to Gilbert and he said it was not refundable.  I know that Mexico has a 5 day period to cancel but they said thats just for time share, not promotions.  How can they get away with this.  There are laws and restirictions on american telemarketers.  How do we stop foreign telemarketers.  I will follow up by making a PROFECO CLAIM.  This is like their better business buro. I will also post on web sites like this and continue to speak with them.

Thanks for your report, my name is David Z and I am the manager with Quality Assurance. I would like to give you some information regarding your mother’s trip.  We have no age restriction since many people that age like to travel.  We are definitely willing to take her reservation, when she is ready to make it; I don’t feel your mother was scammed since this offer is legit. Regarding the cancelation all of our (discounted) packages are taken out of inventory at the moment that they are sold, and are sold non refundable (perfectly legal).  Just like any clearance sale at a major department store.

All of our customer services agents are equipped to handle your case and are constantly monitored to assure a high quality in our services.   We at Marketing 4 Sunset Group want to expose our hotel group and gain a positive word of mouth advertisement from you and your family, even though our packages are sold non refundable we understand that sometimes unexpected things happen, that is why we work very hard to satisfy every customer case by case, and do the right thing.

Please contact me if you require any further assistance with this issue at dzambrano@susnetworld.net.

i too have signed up for package and now extremly worried that it is not all inclusive as i was told as that is one of the reasons that i went for it. having the children i thought it would save us money. i havn't booked a date yet as i am still trying to find the air fare. i was told that i could get flights for around 200 pounds and that the agents of sunset could help me get those flights. i have since found out that they can't assist in finding me cheap flights and it is aroun 450-500 for one flight!

i was promised by a man named albert navarez who works for paradise destination, that i would receive an all inclusive trip to cancun for a payment of  $598. He also said that this was a promo offer with the grand opening of a five star hotel and all i would have to do is sit in on a 90min tour of the new resort. After a one hour conversation with him reassuring me that if i ever had any questions or concerns that i could reach him personally @ 1-800-961-8354 ext 6308. Upon realizing that there was a potential scam going around i called and apparently the 6308 ext does'nt work not only that but Mr. ALBERT NAVAREZ does'nt take phone calls, but it's okay he's going to call me back.(i'm not holding my breath)So relesing that i probably had been scamed i ask just what exactlly i had bougth for my $598, they said 5 nights at the resort, no airfare, no all inclusive and i would have to pay additional $99 a night to upgrade. Bottom line is i will not recevie the all inclusive package i was offered for $598. (SCAM)

I too got a call from Sunset group and bought the package for 598 USD (6 days 5 nights in Cancun + 5 day 4 nights in Orlando, Florida). They did say that the package only includes hotel accommodation and two adult passes to Disney.

I tried calling the 1800 number, but nobody answered. However, I was able to get a hold of them 10 -15 mins later. The lady did have all my details when I gave her the reservation number. So considering all that, I will just be watching out for the quality of the resort rather than anything else.. I knew what I was getting into in the matters of air transportation and other associated costs (about 170 USD including processing fee).

I have also started a paper trail with my credit card company, so in case anything goes wrong I am in a good legal position to dispute the charge.. If it is a decent accommodation, it is definitely a good deal.. Has anybody been there before?

        Hi
I have signed up in about the same time period and like most everyone else on this website, I share your concerns! i have not yet booked my holiday but wish that you let me know what you think about it all so far and if you have actually gone on your holiday. Please reply. If I do go, I would be taking my young kids as well so I would rather suck up the loss (my own stupidity) than take the family on a crappy holiday. Hope you understand! Any news?
