I do not nor have I ever provided any company with his in-laws contact information. I contacted the above number and I received an automated service for associated credit services. Office hours were from 9 am - 9 pm EST. I called at 12:45 p.m. EST and was unable to reach a representative. I immediately conducted a google search and found out that this number does belong to associated credit services.

- Michael CampbellContinuing to get calls from I think the same people, but this number is different from previous calls. They continue to call asking for someone that is not at this number. Wasting their time and money, so I am happy to allow them to continue. I know the person they're looking for, but I've made it clear that I don't know where or how to get a hold of them, and they still continue to waste their time. I might look into blocking their numbers, but it's kinda fun to have them spend money and time getting nowhere.

- Collection Jerks! This collection agency keeps calling for sister. After being told she does not live here and asking they remove my number they refused. When told that I would report them, the guy I was speaking with said "haven't heard that one before." Then he hung up on me. I called back and spoke with a Richard and explained the entire situation and he said he would remove my number...we'll see.

- Ra| 1 reply(800) 962-9898 Was called by this number and a representative named John Forbes (an officious ass) engaged the conversation in an extremeley abbrasive overtone. Upon explaining to him that I demand to know the premise of the call, he blurted that it was none of my business, because I was not the collectee (a term he didn't use)! Well, if you knock on my door and I don't want you on my property...Leave, or else ye be guilty of trespassing. But, you can call and harass me and I don't owe you a damn thing? This is b.s.! He called 7 times in a row...I consider this har'ass'ment. I will find out what companies utilize their services and not purchase from them any longer. That is what ASS, I mean ACS needs to be informed of...That is how you change the rules of the game!!!

- jenn replies to MIKE| 3 repliesthat was RUDE how do you know what the situation is. it is against the law for collection companies to call friends, relatives, co-workers, neighbors ect.. if they are looking for John Smith they are by LAW only to call the numbers they have for John Smith. you might want to get your facts straight before you say stuff. My guess is you work for a collection company and do many illegal things in your office.
- ec replies to jenn| 1 replyHi, Jenn.
Actually it's legal for a debt collector to contact a third-party *only* for the purpose of locating the consumer. However, the debt collector is forbidden by law from disclosing to a third-party why they are looking for the consumer or any other information about the consumer. Of course, many debt collectors brazenly break this law and routinely disclose personal information to third-parties in an attempt to intimidate and embarrass the consumer; consumers who are victimized by debt collectors in this manner should report the collector to state and federal law enforcement and seek civil damages.
The only circumstance where it's illegal for a debt collector to contact a third-party for any reason is *after* the consumer notifies the debt collector to cease all attempts to communicate with him or her. If the debt collector contacts or attempts to contact the consumer more than once after receiving the cease-communication order, then the debt collection is in violation of federal debt collection laws and subject to legal sanction.
So it's important for consumers to remember that they have obligation to ever communicate with a debt collector. If a debt collector contacts you, mail them a letter directing them to cease all attempts to contact you; and then mail it via certified US mail with a return receipt request and save a copy of your letter. Good reference sources online include Bud Hibbs' site: http://budhibbs.com/First.htm (There's a list of what a collector can and cannot do.) And there's the National Association of Consumer Advocates: http://naca.net/debt-collection-abuse/ The NACA also has an attorney referral link.
And I think you're right about that guy working for a collection agency. :) - ec replies to ecOops...that sentence should have read: "So it's important for consumers to remember that they have NO obligation to ever communicate with a debt collector"
- AnonymousI was verbally assaulted by Jenny (last name not given), Dede Hall of default Prevention and Bob Simmons. Scott Loomis is a reasonable person to speak with butt only if you can get through the idiots you have to speak with to reach him. To stop their call fax them at 508-435-6248 and request they not contact you or your family.
