A guy left a message on my answering machine saying he was calling from "Grand Sweepstakes Givaway" and that I've won something. I am supposed to contact the prize coordinator now.

me too, but I didn't know if it was a scam so I didn't call back. Did you?

Bill called from the prize distribution center saying that I had entered a contest some time ago and he had good news for me he mentioned that the grand prize was a Lincoln Navigator-I just left him my message on his answering machine and I sure wish it would be legit!!

Well-someone just called me back(not Bill)and told me I must come to Westgate Historic Resorts to receive one of 4 prizes(a week vacation at that resort in Williamsburg,Va.@1324 Richmond rd in Williamsburg,a 32" flat screen TV,$2,500 in cash or a Lincoln Navigator)They wanted to know if I had an income over $50,000-so they could know if I could afford to pay taxes on the car-right! I also was told my husband would have to attend so I know it was a sales pitch because after my husband said no-way that was the end of the conversation!  So-if you want to go thru one of those high pressure resort sales pitches be my guest. Not me.

I received the same message on my voice mail (CallID: 312-488-1851) on 11/21/07, caller just said his name was 'Bill'. I did a web search and found this page then called the callback number (800 996-0081) and asked for 'Bill Bentley'. I was transferred to his "assistant" Justin. When asked Justin could not tell me what actual contest I had entered (red flag), because it was administered nationally in malls, via emails and by numerous other methods. He asked about my personal income (did I 'still' make $50,000 or more), if I used a credit card regulary and if I was 'still' married (I have never been married). When I told him I was single he asked me if had a girlfriend/partner that could come with me when I picked up the prize (The promotion is aimed at couples). I stalled him by telling him I would have to ask her and get back to him. He gave me this callback number (1-866-818-8040 ext.8054) and mentioned that I should call ASAP because this give away was time sensitve.

While I cannot verify if this is definitely a scam and no prizes are awarded it is surely part of a random promotional scheme designed to get couples to come to a location to claim their prize and then subject them to some sort of sales pitch. I wish someone would post who actually showed up to claim their prize and tell us more, like is there really a prize and can you still claim it if you don't 'go for' whatever they're selling.

Ditto-on my cell and the caller id number was 708-441-3679!

I received the same call from "Bill" claiming I won a Lincoln Navigator. However I recieved two different calls with Bill saying the same exact message but using different numbers on my answering machine.  One number was 1(800)996-0081 and the other 1(800)960-0083.  I could tell that both messeages were prerecorded.  I expected it being a scam so googled the number and found this!  SO I won't bother calling back.  Thanks for the info!

Hey, I got the call from "Bill" yesterday, from the "Prize Distribution Center." On my cell phone yet. Not surprisingly, the call was from 312-488-1852, the same area code as my cell. But I'm pretty sure I have never put my cell number on any contest entry, and would never enter a contest where the prize is a behemoth Navigator. And of course they did not say exactly which contest I had entered, just that it was "a few months ago." (Odd that they haven't changed the spiel: By December 14, wouldn't the prize be a new 200_8_ car, not 2007?)

I got the same call from "Bill".  Based on this site, I don't think I will be returning his call.

Received a call from caller ID: 1-312-488-1852.  It was Bill requesting that I call him back at 1-800-996-0081. I called back to find out what it was before checking this site.  Got a voice mail saying it was the Awards Claim Department and to leave my contact details.  That is when I found this site.  Thanks to everyone for posting.  I'm not calling back

I got the same message today.  Number came from 708-441-3680.  The first half of the message was really scrambled, so I couldn't understand most of it...but I was told to call 1-800-996-0081 and ask for Bill.  Definitely a scam.

Pre-recorded message from Bill stating I won a contest for a 2007 Lincoln Navigator.  I needed to call him back at 1-800-996-0081.  The number "he" called from was 708-441-3680.  The number he called (my work number) is a government number, and there is no way I'd use it for a contest.

i just got the same call from "bill" not 2 minutes ago. i let my voice mail get it because it was an out of area number. so i looked the number up and im glad i did. it would have been nice if it were real though. i could use a new car. haha

Call originated from a 312 number that I didn't recognize.  It the same 2007 Lincoln Navigator scam...same 800 number.

same as the above, someone named bill and we had won a lincoln navigator  I googled the number312-488-1852 and got this message board.  thanks for responding to this so i wouldn't call and get snookered.

solicited call about a fake vehicle being won. when called back was told we had won a prize could be a tv, car, 45000, or 2500 in cash. but we needed to go to westgate resort in gatlinburg TN as a couple. when told we couldn't appear as a couple they said we would have to attend something for couples

i just got a call from bill at 312-488-1853 saying that i had entered a contest for a lincoln navigator and that he had good news for me and to call him back at 1-800-996-0081. won't be calling him back.

Rec'd a call from Bill (similar situation as most of the previous postings). I will not return the call. Our number is on the Do-not-call list. Dont understand why they still called.

Got the call from "Bill" asking me to call Michelle Bentley for a Lincoln Navigator. Thanks for the postings to let me know that this is a big ol' pile of shiftwork.
