Received call at 8:20 am today. ID said it was Bringham Young University. Utah is two hours behind us, so it would have been6:20 am out there. Almost answered it because I have relatives in Utah but then realized they wouldn't be calling at that time of day. Waited to see if message was left but none was. Thank you for letting me know it was only some more freaks. Getting really irritated at all the calls when I am on Do not call list. Ha! Big help that is!!

Got the call this morning 5/28 @ 8:54.  Glad I didn't answer.  Obviously a robo call with reading what everyone else has said and the times they got the call.

Annoying phone call I got from this number this morning at 8:32 AM EST that first tried to scare you about your credit cards and then started to tell you how they could lower your interest rate.  Would love to know who it is because I am on the do not call list, which obviously they don't care about.  I just put them on hold and continued to walk my dog.  I just tried calling it back to give them a piece of my mind, and its a busy signal now.  Caller ID says it is from Provo, Utah.

I get hundreds of spam calls every few months. 801-422-2558 called me today and left no message. Download Mr. Number and block them all. That way they will never bother you again. It just hangs up on them all so you waste their time.

Wow, here it is 7 months later and they have either started up again or are still at it. I never answer these calls and this one was on my cell phone, which was unusual. Very likely robo callers.

Illegal, but gov't couldn't care less
Phishing call. Hoping you'll actually call them back and volunteer a credit card number, expiration date, and CCV code as "verification" of your account to "prove that you own the card.".  Notice when they robocall that they don't even say what bank/company they are calling from. That's because they have no clue what credit cards you carry.

This stuff could pretty effectively be shut down if the government would actually choose to ENFORCE some of the laws that are already on the books.  Instead, they ignore it, and proceed to pass even more laws that they have no intent to enforce.  Enforcement consisting of LONG prison sentences for those found to be doing these phishing scams would start to deter others.  Seems like phone company records would show where these calls are really originating from.  (And, yes, if it's overseas, there's less that can be done).  There also has to be a technological solution that would prevent Caller ID phone number/location spoofing.

    Three Crimes
Note that there are at LEAST 3 crimes being committed with these calls. The first is calling people on the DNC list. The second is using a robodialer for the calls. The third is the actually ID theft scam.
