go to www.westernwats.com to opt out- Caller: western wats
- Call type: Survey
- wc| 12 repliesFollowed link provided by ts, opt out requires an email message which I am sure will get you a whole bunch of spam. These "surveys" are nothing more than a way around the DoNotCall list because by answering their questions you have established a relationship.

- Jen replies to wc| 10 repliesYou, sir, are an ******. They will not spam you and this is a legitimate business. They are hired by a company you do business with or a political party to ask your opinions and nothing, NOTHING ever gets sold.
- Bigdaddy replies to BobbieTried to sign me up for service to pay my credit card bill in case of illness, loss of job etc. Could not even tell which which credit card company they represented. Just say no.
- YeahRight replies to JenYou are an ******* if you think anyone wants to use their cell minutes answering surveys or giving political opinions for lying statistics. This should be illegal too! I have received 6 hang-ups from this number and I am on the do NOT call list because my phone is for my convenience, not anyone elses. And yes my Spam is up since the first time I answered. Coincidence? I don't think so. legitimate business my behind Jen...you must be affiliated.
- RM| 12 repliesIf you haven't already read this in other posts, the company is a survey company. What they are doing is *perfectly legal* and frankly is not a hassle if you handle it like a reasonable adult and don't go throwing childish temper tantrums like some of the people posting on this board have described (which get you nowhere with anyone anyway). The person calling you works for Western Wats (one t in Wats) which has been hired by a firm with whom you do some sort of business. WW is under contract to survey peformance of service companies (for instance, Time Warner Cable hires them to call their customers), conducts public opinion/perception polls, and is generaly getting the pulse of what people want/think. If you don't wish to participate in the survey, answer the phone and politely say no thanks, and ask to be removed from the calling list. They will do that (worked for me just fine). This is not an invasion of your privacy and it is in fact an opportunity for you to voice your opinion if you either liked or disliked service you recently received from a company with which you have done business. If you are so up in arms about someone simply asking your opinion, then don't do business with the company who has hired WW. Stop being a bunch of namby panby babies and start handling your phone like an adult. I could understand the gripes if this company didn't honor a request to be taken off the call list, but they do honor the requests. And they not only have the right, but are fullfilling a legal agreement with the company that hired them to call you and ask for your feedback on whatever topic they have been hired to cover. It's just a phonecall, people. Answer it once and just say, "no thanks, please take me off the survey list." How hard is that? The phone calls stop and you're done with it. And no, I don't work for the company. Before yesterday, I had never heard of them. I looked them up, followed the instructions on the web site when they called the second time (first time, I didn't answer either) and that's that. No big deal. No whining necessary.

- Beaverhousen| 1 replyThis number and an other number is calling me. STOP CALLING!!!!!
- Jack| 1 replyReceived a call today from Western Wats at this number. The caller went into his spiel about how he is performing a survey and the answers to my questions are important.
The following is what I do when telemarketers call. It takes just a minute, and is actually more enjoyable then getting angry with these losers.
I immediately began to politely pepper him with questions:
What company is he calling from?
Where is his company located?
What is the contact number for this company?
What organization is he conducting research for?
Who is funding the research?
Are their political or non-profit groups involved, and if so, who are they?
He answered my questions as best he could, telling me that they were conducting research on behalf of "Mount West Research." I then asked him the most important question:
Is this a compensated survey? Am I to receive payment for my answers?
He was surprise with these questions. Obviously he never heard someone ask these before. I explained my rationale. Since his company is being paid by a group to perform the research, and he is using my phone number (which I pay for), and MY time, I should be compensated, no different than if I went to a focus group performing market research.
When he told me there would be no payment I asked him two more questions.
Would you please place my number on your Do-Not-Call list?
Can you confirm now that my number is on this list?
He then responded "I will see what I can do." I mentioned that was unacceptable and asked to speak to his supervisor.
A minute later -- the supervisor who identified himself as Andrew Sullivan -- picked up the phone. When I told him I was trying to get my number removed from his Do-Not-Call list, and their representative could not confirm that, he hung up on me!
Do not take crap from these telemarketers. DO NOT give them any personal information. DO NOT identify yourself. Spend all the time asking them questions! Not only will they be wasting their money and time on non-effective calls, you will obtain some satisfaction knowing you are doing just that.- Caller: Western Wats

- timI sure love my caller ID.... saves me a lot of time.
- boCalled me twice yesterday w/o leaving a message. I only have a cell phone and ALWAYS tell any company I provide the number to that I am only providing the number contingent on them NOT using it for telemarketng/research/survey and other time wasting purposes. For somebody to say it is OK for them to call me on my cell phone and waste my time and money is simply ridiculuos. And to say I should go ahead waste my time and money to tell them NOT to waste my time and money is absurd!
- JoshCalled 7:45pm last night. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.
- MarkSent me a text message after I did not answer their call. It said "PLEASE CALL".
- just mecalled and asked if this was the ***** household. I told her that I was busy bc I actually was on the other phone. Then decided to search their phone number and got here. Wen to there website and asked them to put my number on their Do Not Call.
- Curve replies to RM| 1 replyI pay my phone bill and I decide how it is used. It is in no way throwing a temper tantrum to complain about someone making a profit by calling my phone and wasting my time. It is not just the phone call it is the time spent looking them up on the internet, the time following their directions. By the way, my called id says "watts" not "wats" but apparently my caller ID must be wrong since you seem to know everything about this company with your assuring everyone how great they are. Maybe you need to take notice that this is just one of many sites set up so people can STOP unwanted calls. That is why there are NO CALL LIST. Just because something is "legal" doesn't mean it is okay. At its best this is an unwanted call and I shouldn't have to put up with it!
- Don replies to RMAre you absolutely out of your freaking mind! By answering and telling them not to call again you have just been added to a special list they compile then sell again to the highest bidder. The list is sold for top dollar since they know they have a legitimate phone number of someone who will answer. They don't care about the legal repercussions as they make absolutely billions on doing this lucrative business. So, go ahead and answer the phone and you see how many more calls you end up getting as a result.
- JoeThanks to this site, I just "caller-id'ed" them out.
