recorded call not a real person

This was a recorded message.  Something to the effect of "This is xxx penitentiary with a collect call from (my brothers name)" - then there were 3 prompts.  "If you accept the charges say yes, if not say no"  dont remember the third option.  My mother received this call when she woke up and said yes.  The line then disconnected.

I picked up and no one is there to answer.  I have said "NO" several times an there is no response.  I'm getting about 3-4 calls a day from this number.

got a collect call from this number, saying it was from a local juvenile detention facility (not in utah). did not accept the call. don't know anyone in the facility.

So you think it's a jail collect call?...I really don't know anyone in Utah

801-758-0647 is a juvinile youth correction place, my nephue is there and he calls me from there, but some times it does get disconected, but they can only call collect and its for real bad kids.

its becouse its a youth corrections for bad kids, u must have fam there trying to call, but 4 to 5 times a day, lol i dont thinks so.

If it is a correction facility, somebody should get strapped on the chair for that - yes, to the one that connects to the electrical outlet...

If it was from a correction facility, the caller ID would not change every few hours, so I doubt that.

I called my phone company.Im getting this same message.3 times a day,5 days a week.but i hang up.she said if you listen to it all there is a 800 number at the end.you call that and they will take you off their call list.

This is an automated message from a correctional facility.  If you know someone in prison and they want to contact you, they need to add your number to their call list and then you have to approve it.  The message says they will call you 3 times a day until you take action.  I think alot of different states use it, because my sister is in prison in Ohio and I noticed that someone else said their message was from Utah..  If you call 1-800-231-01893 they will remove you from the calling list within two hours.

I answer & nobody is there.  I say hello a few times & then it disconnects. I don someone in an Ohio prison, and I do want to accept the call.  How do I do this?  I do not get any type of recording.

I am tired of these phone calls. I got the first one and listened to the whole message and chose the option to not get anymore phone calls from the number. I am STILL getting calls.

I DO think so thank you. I have gotten 12 calls in all since the 16th of Dec. In the message, that is recorded, it said I would get 3 calls a day for 5 days. I listened to the whole message and chose NOT to get anymore calls and it didn't work. I STILL got the calls.

We've been getting these calls for months now. Several weeks ago I accepted the call to tell them they had a wrong number.  Guy on the other end of the phone asked for Ashley.  Nobody by that name here.  He asked who I was and I pointed out that he called my number and I was really more interested in knowing who he is.  I aked him to not call again.   We continued to get the calls.  I called 801-758-0647, the Utah number that apears on my caller ID.  I got a recording telling me to call 800-231-0193 to stop the calls.  The company is Global Tel Link (GTL).  http://www.globaltellink.com/.  They apparently route calls from correctional facilities.  They were not able to tell me which specific facility the calls were coming from though I do know it's in Ohio. They said they put a block on our number.  Time will tell if this works.

Im getting this same message.3 times a day,every day since for 3 weeks.
How can phone companys allow this abuse?

It is a routed call from Marysville Women's Correctional Facility asking to have my number added to an inmates allowed calling list.

The phone rings. Sometimes with no response. I hang up. This occurs daily since April. Its still happening. But now there is a recorded message saying this is Global Telephone Links...we will call you 3 times a day unless you follow the following prompts. I hung up for two weeks. Then reported it to my phone company. They couldn't do anything about it. GTL kept their promise. Three times a day and with the silent treatment. I decided to listen to the promts. It was about receiving a collect call from an inmate. It gave me three options. I chose "I am not the person to make that decision.They hung up. I'm frustrated with these calls.

On May 8th I accepted the call and listened to the recorded message, which included an inserted introduction by an inmate in the Grafton Correctional Institution (Ohio).  I punched the code that we would not accept calls from this inmate (whom we never had heard of) and hung up. The company is Global Tel Link (GTL) and they route calls from correctional facilities.  http://www.globaltellink.com/.  THE REALLY ANNOYING THING IS THAT TWO DAYS LATER WE GOT A FIRST CLASS LETTER FROM THE INMATE, ADDRESSED TO SOMEONE WITH OUR LAST NAME, BUT UNKNOWN TO US.  IT WAS STAMPED ALSO BY AN OFFICIAL LOOKING CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION STAMP.  LOOKING UP THE INMATE IN THE OHIO CORRECTIONS LIST, WE FOUND HE IN IN PRISON FOR DRUG POSSESSION AND ARMED ROBBERY FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS.  WE RETURNED THE LETTER TO SENDER.  VERY SPOOKY!
