- Joeanne| 1 replyBoth my house and cell phones are on a "Do-not-call" list and I have received several calls to both phone lines. The caller never leaves a message,
- ttwinCall everyday, sometime twice late night. i don't answer unknown number so not really know who is and what about.
- anne| 1 replyOK, here's the deal,
Go to SpoofCard.com and it will explain on a smaller scale how this is being done and why you can't call back the number that show's up on your caller ID.
IF you are getting these calls, especially if you are getting it every day or twice a day you must report this someone. I'm not sure who. The FCC, Police, FBI whoever. BUT make sure to tell them that the number that shows up on your caller ID is not the number they are calling from.
BUT BEFore you do that, next time they call get as much information out of them as you can about their company and what they are offering while giving away as little information about yourself as you can. Give them a false name. Ask who you are speaking to/what their name is. What the name of the company is, what their website is called. Ask if you can think about it and can you call them back on this number or a different number. seem interested.
EVen better if you can record the conversation or at least put it on speaker phone so someone else will hear the conversation.
if you get a phone call where they ask for you by name (it may start out with some job application you filled out, that's how it did for me). here's the tricky part, when they ask for phone number verification...give them the number they dialed: your number (I mean, they already have it, don't they), then when they ask for you by name, simply say you don't know that person. Make up some name to tell them. ALL the while keep asking what company this is, what's the website, phone number, email address SOMething.
THis happened to me because I believe I tried to apply for a job on craigslist.com (which i love dearly) and the email like that it had for the posting connected me to a webpage called employmentselect.com. So, I don't think craigslist is dangerous, just beware if the email like takes you to a web page.
when I told the nasty women that I had no IDEa who "my real name" was, she said there must have been a mistake and that i wouldn't be called again. I'll wait a few days and let you know if I get another call.
Put it all in your complaint.
If you all are as annoyed as you say you are and your bark really is as big as your bite, then complain complain complain BUT have something to back it up with. "Caller refused to give me a name, company name, telephone number, email address, shoe size AND I have a witness/I have it recorded"
this is absolutely ridiculous and we must stop it. Don't let these people invade our homes and our phones.
that's all I got for now. - edretiree replies to anneI have been receiving numerous call from morning to night. I just finished sending an e-mail to the FCC. Go to: http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm?sid=d1e37&id=d1e53

- RickCaller had details of a visit to a dealer for one of my commercial trucks. I think she wanted to do a survey on how the dealer did on some warranty work. Pleasant.
- Call type: Unwanted
- JOI get calls from this number weekly. I just don't answer it anymore.
- leeI work for a small plumbing and heating company. I just received a call from this #. The woman asked for my boss's name but mispronounced his last name. I told her he wasn't available and asked what it was regarding she told me she was calling from Polaris Research and they were conducting a survey of several HVAC companies regarding the brands of air conditioners they sell for a major cooling manufacturer to determine what the HVAC companies base their decisions on regarding which brands of A/C they use. She then told me they weren't selling anything and the person who answered the survey would get a $50 participation prize and also be given a 1 in 500 chance of winning 1 of 3 prizes. Told her I could send her to him voice mail and she said she would just try back at another time. She was very polite and pleasent on the phone.
- Caller: Polaris Research
- RhondaLady called wanted to do a survey call. Was very rude. SAid they were researching our 401K plan but they could not verify who we were with. This was scam to to provide our bank account numbers to access our records and steal our money

- Uncle AlSome woman said she was with the University of Southern California , doing a survey to see how people
are using the internet to get information.
I was immediately suspicious as to WHY USC was calling from a UTAH phone #.
Then the first 2 questions were about me.... how many people in my home..... what are their ages.
I said "no way forget it" and hung up.
It did not sound professional at all. ANY University would have lots of legal disclaimers before starting to ask questions. This is DEFINITELY some outfit out to steal people's identities! I am no alarmist, folks. But this number smells like trouble. Beware of it!- Caller: University Of Southern California
- KayleeThe phone rang and I saw that it was long distance call and not any of my family so I did not answer. I checked my messages and there was a conversation between two guys talking about tattoos. One of the guys said his name was Casey. The message seemed like they did no know they were leaving a message or I was 3way called in.
- JustMeI just got one of these calls at my work. They claimed to be a company called ICM calling to do a computer software survey. I asked them to please take us off of their call list...we will see.
- Caller: ICM
- Call type: Survey
- stratfordnanaCalls at least once a day. I'm on the do not call list.
- Caller: unknown
- kaileenaAmerican Petroleum Institute. Wanted to talk to someone who retired 6 years ago, or someone in safety. Would not leave call back number so was told not to call back.
- Velvet1I've gotten two calls today at work from this number. My number shows up as unavailable outside the building, and I never list it on anything except business cards (not even e-mail). No idea how these guys got my number.
I refuse to answer, and they don't leave messages. If this keeps up, will report the number to the FCC. - TeruGetting phone calls from 801-823-2029 twice a day for four or five days now. Caller ID has "Utah Call" and the above phone number. Twice I answered the call and they said that they were taking a media survey to see how I got my news. I told them from PBS, France, UK, Russia, World News and they hung up, but called back two hours later that evening. I could not get any information from them and am reporting this phone number to the FCC.
- AdminGoddessJust received a call from this number. The young man asked to speak with "the person who handles the accounting for your company".
Our standard op for this type of call is to just dump them into the general vm. box.
The caller ID listed this call as Ogden UT. Could be somewhat problematic as Ogden UT is also where the IRS has offices.- Caller: Unknown
- Call type: Telemarketer
- HouseholdSecretaryI just received a call from this number (801) 823-2029. The young gentleman told me he was representing an Insurance Vision Plan that we just discontinued Jan. 1, 2010. He asked the reason that we had discontinued the plan, and I politely told him. The conversation should have been over at that! Then he wanted to carry on with a survey, with which most of the questions did not apply to us. We never used the plan. The plan had a terrible selection of eye doctors, so we never went, and we cancelled when we could. He kept me on the phone for quite a while and kept asking questions on the survey. I finally told him that I was ending this conversation and that he needed to make a BIG note across that survey that says DOES NOT APPLY....Terrible Selection of Doctors. He just didn't seem to get it, he was like a robot and just kept asking questions that didn't apply. It appears to be a telemarketing number that must take on different jobs throughout the year.
