Scammer trying to "buy" something from me (in Canada) that I posted on line.

Recieved several text from this number wanting to buy an item I have posted online. He said he needed a favor....he was in hospital having surgery and wanted me to hold the item...NOPE!!!

Same thing happened to me. Offering to buy a item I had for sale online and needed a favor. Scammer!!!!!

I had the same proposition from this number but for an ipod nano i have for sale. said he was buying for his daughter and is currently in the hospital. Thanks to this post i told him to scam someone else.

Beware, same stories as told above. Keeps texting me asking for best firm price even after I told them to stop bugging me if it was a scam...

Also, I am completely sick of receiving these scams either by text or email, I sell quite a bit of stuff online and I constantly get scams. Does anyone know of somewhere you can report these people, that will actually take action against them and investigate? I just think about the few people that they may actually happen to scam out of their hard earned money.

Same story as above ^ says they can only pay through paypal and can't send a check because they are in Salt Lake City having surgery.  (If you can search the web for items and text wanting to purchase things, you can also write out a check and send it to the person you are wanting to purchase something from)  

They told me how to set up a paypal account and said they would need me to send the items (2 buckle watches) to their daughter for her birthday.  They wanted me to include a letter in it that said Happy Birthday Love mom and said they were sad that they wouldn't be able to spend that birthday together.

I told them if they find a way to write a check and send it to me I would be more than happy to help them out.  Otherwise I wised them the best in their "search."

no response from them..... Yet

Got another one from her asking same questions. Told her to stop harassing with her stupid scam...

Wish there was a way to actually 'report' this kind of activity Abraun, but I don't know of one.

Contacted me for an item I had listed for sale and then continued to text me at 3am and insisting i set up a pay pal account.  Would not leave me alone even after I said I was not interested.  Finally after stating I would contact the authorities the text stopped.

Same thing happened today to my son. Same phone number,  same  hospital/b-day story, same text request to set-up paypal. He was so disappointed when I did this research on the number because I knew it sounded fishy.

I received text messages from this number asking about some items I had for sale on my apartment's website - they have a classified ads section. When i told them to look at my blog where all the items were listed with descriptions, pictures, and prices, the conversation became very heated very quickly and escalated into threats to my life. They threatened to kill me with a knife, that they were coming for me, and asked if I'd heard of the Boston bombs, because that was what would happen to me next. Seeing this, I now see that it's a total scam and I'm glad I've reported it to the police.

Similar thing.  I have a neighbor who had them trying to sell her computer to them.  This guy is trying to get me to sell him a very nice watch I have posted on a local classified add online.  I noticed its almost always about a birthday gift.  Gonna block the number on my phone.

this is the third number that's been about a scam for me and i'm already exhausted by it...same story...mine is jewelry, but they asked if i had a laptop or cell phone? smh...i need a cig.  i have learned to look up the number before replying at least. i wonder what it is about the paypal accounts? i did send a request for the money, but it was right after that that i figured out it was a scam, so i hope changing my password was enough :/

After posting my iPod for sale on an online yardsale website, the following text conversation happened word-for-word from this phone number - coincidentally lining up with everyone else's conversations with this person almost word for word!

THEM: Hello, am interested in buying your (iPod Touch - 64GB!!!).please get back to me with your firm price. thanks.

ME: The lowest we can take is $120. If you're interested I can meet pretty much anytime today.

ME: (The next day) Hi. I have someone else interested in our iPod. You said you were interested first so I wanted to check with you before offering it to them!

THEM: Am buying this for my daughter as a birthday gift present.I believe it will make a wonderful birthday gift

ME: Okay, if you are interested I can meet pretty much anytime today wherever you would like! It would definitely make a great present for her :)

THEM: I think the price is okay by me.But you have to do me a favor Please

ME: (Starting to become suspicious) Sure thing :) What do you need?

THEM: Right now am in the Hospital for a Surgery and wont be back till next week friday (1/2)All you will do for me is to write a short not inside the package(HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM MOM) .Please if you do have a PayPal account,provide it to me so that (2/2)I will Make the payment,I will add extra dollar for the shipping and handling.


I am SO pissed that people do this to others!!! I am glad I checked out the number before giving out any identifiable info. This will definitely make me more cautious as to what info I post on my selling items.

This person texted me to about a ipod touch I have for sale! Said the exact same things too me!
