- "TX IS A DEBTOR STATE" replies to Annoyed| 3 replies"Annoyed"
They are not going to fire this guy just because you are "Annoyed" and he gave you some incorrect information. It is very possible that he got the number from you credit report, which would be on there for over a decade. Or if that is not the case and you just got the phone number, he could of given you that information by mistake, maybe he is new, or it could of been a "computer error". Any of those excuses will fly in the collection world. I used to do collections and you would never get fired over that. As for being an FDCPA, yes if a collector lied intentionally, but in this case it is not, he gave you some incorrect info by "mistake". Anyways I know I used to do collections, to pay my bills, so I know your going to make some type of "shes prob a collector". The fact of the matter is what goes around comes around. This guys just doing his job to try and support his family, and you wanna get him fired. You owe the money, try and talk to them and they will try and work with you. Sometimes they won't. I got bill collectors calling me, breaking all kinds of laws. You owe the money!!!! You got nothin on this Terry person!!!! - stop calling replies to luckybIf you tell them it is the wrong number, and you don't know the person, and to take your number out, they will stop calling. May have to do it more then once.
- mgb12This number calls me about 3 times a day. If I answer, noone says anything. I wish they would stop.

- ViolinMy daughter recieved several calls early in the morning from this number. I called them up and it is Discover Card. They were trying to reach someone else and had her number (collection call?).
They agreed to take her number off their list. - They are slimyThis place calls continuously and now I know who they are I just don't answer. I understand that many collectors are simply doing their jobs, and are quite good at it, actually helping to create a win/win situation. Then there are those who are pure skum, behind in their own debts from drinking and partying too much, and they do not care what they do to make some pocket change. Very similar to a [***]. A few of these have even attempted to contact me at work and have been incredibly rude to everyone they speak to. Real rocket scientists there. Oh well...we all have your number now...hahaha.

- marcoHi: I have the same problem, I receive up to 6 call per day (if I not respond to the first one), they are very annoying.
So I just gave a call to that number using VOIP (it is free) and it is Discover Card. As usual they are looking for somebody that is not me. I asked them to erase my number form the list. Let's see if it works.- Caller: Discover Card

- Amazed| 2 repliesSo the autodialer called and got to my voicemail. The recording they left was as follows..."please hold for the next available representative" (repeated two times) then, "there are no representatives available at this time. Please call us back at 123-456-7890". My caller ID confirmed it was 1-801-902-2938. So why would they leave a number that would not work and ask me to call it. Seems a bit foolish on their part if they actually want a return call.
They also call my companies main switchboard repeatedly and have been extremely rude to the receptionist each time. What kind of morons work at Discover? The best part is that many of these collectors themselves are behind in their bills. Mine are due to medical reasons, not partying and drinking the night away. Clearly Discover is not a class act.- Caller: Discover Finance
- smbi took their call it is discover and I do owe them money. They don't call me anymore. They told me to bring my acount current I would need to pay $546.43 I told them that I wasn't interested at this time and said Thank You for calling me. I don't think the collector knew what to do
- tbI like SMB's response...I think I'll try that, because I'm in the same situation.
- FedUpaPottomusYeah... the [***] have called twice today and I haven't answered. I owe nothing to anybody. They're looking for some assmaster named Kahn Thai and/or Chau Heuyn who keeps using my number for his own nefarious purposes. Time and time again I ask the collectors to due their research and take my number off of their list. They consistently say they will but nothing happens.
Know that creditors constantly sell and resell their "collections" to agencies to see if they can collect for a fee or percentage. If the one collections agency can't collect, they in turn sell to another agency. That's how this [***] works folks.
Even though I'm on the NDNCR (the national do not call registry), they still call because they're not formally calling me, just the assmaster referred to earlier. But if I say I'm not khahn or Chau, they typically try to sell me something. FACKERS!- Caller: FACKERS, INc.

- Claire in TXThey called last night looking for someone who had this number before we got it. I know, because we get dozens of calls from collectors looking for this guy, so I googled his name and found out his home address. When I explained this to the person on the other end and asked them not to call me anymore, they wanted to know my name, address, etc. I politely declined, told them to correct their records on this guy, and not call anymore.

- mitkednok replies to AnnoyedI got a call on my home phone from this number, CallerID said it was Discover Card. I was busy and didn't answer - about two minutes later I got a call on my WORK cell phone from the same number. I don't think I owe them anything, I'll check on-line, but how did they get my work cell number and why did they call it? Ticks me off!!
- JWe have had our number for about 15 months, and in that time we have been harrassed by people looking for some "Tony"... We have the option on our phone to block calls so we do. When a certain number calls repeatedly we add it to the list, and next time they call it cuts off and they get a busy tone. Discover calls us up to 5 times in a row every 10 minutes, every day. We don't even HAVE a Discover card.

- DisgustedI received a call from this number this morning. Was told to hold on. I do not hold on for anyone who has called ME. I did not have a clue why they are calling my number. I have NEVER had a Discover card!

- DH in NJSecond time in two years that I received a call from this number asking for my ex-brother-in-law. Has been my ex for over 27 years and haven't seen him in more than that. Why and how they got my number is a mystery.
- pahendersonI have been contacted by them up to 5 times a day for the last two weeks. Never anything on the other end but static. They tend to call me EARLY in the day, 7 days a week, at times like 6:00, 7:00, 8:00am Pacific time. The calls keep going till after midnight, I have them to stop, now when I answer or send to voice mail the caller hangs up. how do I stop the calls?
