Robocalled from "Consumer Services" with one of those horrid messages about "my credit card."  Think what you will of me after reading, but I've had enough of this crap today.

I pushed "1" and waited for the guy, then blasted a referee's whistle in his ear.  After hearing him scream --and he did -- I hung up.  Maybe he'll retaliate by sending my number all over the planet or maybe he'll think twice about this line of work trying to harass and screw people out of money.  Either way, I felt a small bit of satisfaction.

Some days, I get these robo calls several times.  The number of calls is increasing even though I just hang up.  I am on the do not call list, but that doesn't work like it used to.  These people just don't care.  Obviously, these numbers are well known; so why can't something be done?

That's great!  I never got to hear any of the scam artists scream when I blew my emergency whistle into the receiver.  I'm jealous.  However, I have learned that pressing a number to talk with someone (no matter how satisfying it may be to give them a hard time in return) or to have your number removed only results in even more calls from the scam artists.  I learned that lesson a few months ago when I spoke with someone to inform him that I knew it was a scam, don't bother calling, etc.  The result?  They called me every single weekday, sometimes more than once a day, for a month and a half.  After being summarily disconnected time and time again by my call-blocker, their calls finally tapered off to a couple of times a week and now it's been weeks since their last call.  It's just not worth the aggravation to engage with them in any fashion.

The usual credit card scam artists.  This time it's "Carmen" calling from "Cardholder Services."  "Carmen" called me earlier this month from 201-485-6880, but I blacklisted the phone number in my call blocker so they naturally dug up or spoofed a new number with which to plague honest people with their scam.  I simply slam the phone back down and continue blacklisting the numbers they use.

802-727-0707 is one of those annoying "let us lower your credit card interest" calls.  You would think that Verizon which is my phone service would have sufficient technology to stop these intrusive, unsolicited telephone calls.  It's time we banded together and insist that telephone services as well as the FTC get a handle on these scams.  I particularly like this copied above notation:

How many more wars do you want the US to start, & then pay for? Please pack your squirrel rifle & head over to Asia, because that's where the calls are coming from. Get call blocking. They call - you block - they don't make money - they won't call.

I've come to the conclusion that the Do Not Call registry is just as much of a scam as these constant phone calls.  For years, I've been on the registry and yet I receive several phone calls DAILY from various scammers (same ones over and over).  I report numbers, but nothing ever comes of it and the calls continue.  The Do Not Call list is obviously something initiated by the government to make people believe that something is being done about these harassing phone calls when nothing really is.  I'm so frustrated.

After being called daily they try to bully you into giving up
credit card information if you happen to answer their call.
The only sane thing to do is not to speak at all and do
everything you can to never answer their calls. Same
advice you'd use for any phone - do not answer any
number you do not recognize, period.

If said you have Verizon, like I do, I save the contact into a category "Do Not Answer" and go under "Options" and send it directly to voice mail.  You may hear a small ping but not even a full ring.  It will go directly to voice mail.  I have about 50 or more numbers under this same heading and once you add it, all numbers that you save under that heading, will all be send directly to voice mail.

The Credit Card tele-terrorists who were surprisingly quite for a week called our DNC registered landline on 10/28/2014 @ 04:50 PM from Thetford, VT. This is a new phone number for them. They hide behind the "V". After thousands of calls from hundreds of numbers occasionally I prefer to waste the time of these jerks by picking up. I asked why I was being called and the jerk told me it was because his partner just baked some macadamia nut cookies. I said I was a allergic to nuts. The rep unabashedly dropped to level of the conversation to insults  about nuts and other body parts. Eventually getting to profanity. I along went with it until he ran out of obscenities and hung up. I don't know why he wasted so much of his time unless he enjoys belittling people.
At least I wasted a few minutes of his time and kept him from scamming some gullible person.
    The number has been Blacklisted.
