Actually, 803 is middle South Carolina - Columbia, up to the North Carolina border, down to the Georgia border, and all points in between. 843 is the lower, or coastal, area of the state.

My guess is that his number comes from Columbia since it's the largest city in that area code.

This is a call from SCEG, the power company throughout much of South Carolina. Your bill may be due!

SCEG electric telling me that power was restored after storm

I got a call from them, they left a message. It was SCE&G saying that "an important message had been mailed" to me.

Just got a phone call from this number relating to power outages ... and I live in Iowa.  While we're experiencing our first real day of thunderstorms here, I'm not in an area that lost power.  Plus, my electric bill is paid in full ... through a completely separate company!

I just received a call from this number. It was a notification from SCE&G letting me know about an electric bill being due. I assume they use the number for all automated notification calls.
For those saying they don't have SCE&G and/or those that live in other areas, perhaps this is the notification line for a general call center or a parent company of multiple electric companies?
