I recieved a call from this number and a message stating that someone had filed a civil case against me but I am unable to get any information regarding what this is and why. I cannot reach anyone at this number and I'm not sure if this is real or some type of cruel scam.

I received the same call as Amber. I can tell you that this is a scam of some sort. I am in law enforcement and this is not how things work for civil lawsuits.

I just got the same phone call as well.  I contacted the PA Office of the Attorney General and was informed that this is scam.  Unfortunately, I couldn't make a formal complaint since there was not any information other than a phone number and name of the person calling.  The Office informed me that they have received several calls today regarding this number and information that they are providing and that it is a scam.  Paperwork would've been sent to you notifying you of any court action from any state.  Hope this helps.

I received a call  3:05 pm, October 24, 2012 from 803/393-4089. Said a restraining order will be issued against me puruant to some civil case and gave an 8 character "file" that begins with S10A. A robot answers when I called and it told me the call couldn't go through now (this is during business hours for the east coast & its a South Carolina number per AT&T). I suspect some sort of scam. No parties or attorneys or issues or courts of jurisdiction are included with the message. If its from a real law office, they're terribly unprofessional.

I just got the same call today at 5:40pm 10/24/12 saying that they were some type of Civil Investigations was files against me S-10A-1673  and that I had a restraining order out against me and to forward my info from them to my attorney and contact them ASAP. I had to laugh. I have been really sick for the last 1/2 of the summer and in and out of the hospital and going to all kinds of dr appts and Shen I am not doing that, I am in bed so who did I [***]? The cat for not feeding it in a timely manner or maybe because he knows that he is getting neutered in two weeks and is trying to prevent that. I am glad I found this site! At least I'm the only. I just really feel badly for the other people getting these calls and having mini heart attacks that it is real and that they did something wrong. Poor thing. These scammers need to be out out of business ! I'm blocking their number as soon as I get done here. Good luck!

I received the same type call today from 803 393 4089.  I wasn't home, so they left a message.  The message was left for my ex-husband who I have been divorced from for nearly 30 years.  As with the others, they identified themselves themselves as a civil investigative unit, looking for Phillip Williams. They said a complaint had been filed against him - claim and affidavit # S10A-2165  Further it instructs him or his attorney
to contact them within 48 hours.  The Order to show cause also includes a restraining order.  When you try to call them back, there is no one answering the phone.

I also received these calls on 10/24/12 from 803-393-4089.  First call was made to  my in-laws home,  the exact same message, with case # A10A-27..civil law suit, restraining order etc. My mother in-law called me at work and I attempted to return the call.  A recording states you have reached the Office of the Central Processing Unit. As in the above posts when you try to further the call by following the prompts, the recording then tells you your call can not be completed at this time.  When I got home I had the same message on my home number.  I google The Office of the Central Processing Unit, nothing came up with that name.  Also did the reverse phone # look up and that number last night was not associated with a company or name etc. My co-worker is a lawyer and we called today and actually spoke to someone.  My co-worker stated she was my attorney, they asked for her Bar #, she gave it to them, we were then put on hold.  Person came back and asked if that Bar # was in GA.  we stated yes, they then told us her Bar # could not be found..Bull! Said they couldn't speak with her but would speak with me, but asked to be taken off speaker phone.  Told me the same line about civil suit, law suit, fraud on my part, restraining order.  When I asked who filed this? They gave me the name of a company that I do business with.  They said it was from 2005-2009.  I just recently did business with this company and had never used them prior to 2012. I knew then this was a scam, they said the paper would be served through the mail.  I asked what address they had,  I told them that was not a correct address. They then said have a good day and hung up. I contact the company that they said filed the suit, which they did not.  They contact their IT department, who then contact "Central Processing Unit" who refused to talk to them. Long story short, requested a credit report and froze my credit.

I received the same message as all of the above, today, 10/26/2012, they called my 75 year old mother's house and she called me.  Same as all of the above,  Civil Investigation order call from 803 393 4089.
I go to work everyday and go home.  This is a scam!  Caution... beware!!!  Do not give out any personal information to these jerks!!

I had the same call but they called my son's phone and left a message for my husband they gave the same speech about a restraing order and case # i was concerned because they also contacted my sister in- law about me and stated again the same crap about a month ago that was embarrassing to say the least fortunately she looked it up for me and said it was a scam REALLY  how do people get away with this garbage!!!

Just got this message today. Terrified - but had the feeling it might be b.s. I'm sorry for what these other folks have gone through but glad to know it's not a real number. Thank God I was at work and couldn't even listen to the message until now.

I received a call from this number saying that a lawsuit had been filed and I have 24 hours to respond and it included some kind of restraining order. When I returned the call I was unable to reach anyone. Isn't this harassment and fraud? Someone needs to report to law enforcement.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

If these people are calling you about an old debt, such as a loan or credit card, and have information about you, they probably got the info from a disreputable source. Even if the debt is one that you might owe, you have no way of knowing if these people are the ones entitled to be paid. No one can seize your assets or bank account without suing you first, which these people will not, repeat, will not do! If they were legitimate, they would just sue you. To do that, they have to crawl out from under their rock.They will not tell you anything about themselves which will allow you or law enforcement to find you, unless they make a mistake. Do not give them any information about yourself, certainly no account numbers, etc. Tell them that you do not have a credit card or bank account, and that there is no Western Union office or Wal-Mart in your town. Tell them that the only way that you can pay any money to them is to mail it to them, and try to get an address. If you do, call the United States Secret Service branch of Homeland Security. They are charged with protecting our monetary system and preventing money from going to terrorists, so they have more interest in these scams than anyone else.

My folks called me today saying this number called looking for me 803-393-4084 saying I need to have my attorney call them with 24 to 48 hours about a restraining order and a civil suit. I want to know how they got my folks number and called them and how to get them to stop calling me too? any suggestions? i have filed with the bbb and state attorney office.

AThis number has called my mother sayimg I have  a case  number.   They. Said I own. Orcord Bank money and there sewing me for a Loan I never had. Back  in 2008. I told the Lady i never had a Loan  for anything. Then. She  said she ser me in cort and that there send mey whatever.

Did they tell you a Bank was sewng you and takin you to  court. With a Loan that dosr not exist?

They are back in business and calling Iowa. We got a robotic call giving me an affadavit number AOLI-2990 for a restraining order and saying we had 24 or 48 hours to respond to a claim against us. Selecting 1 or hanging up and dialing this number stated that they were the Central Processing Group  and that they were busy, call back later.

I was contacted from this place about a debt that I did owe. It was from 2007 and I thought that it would have just went away. They advised me that no documents had been filed yet with the courts. I did not want to agree to there terms so the woman I spoke with advised me to dispute it in court. I received a subpoena from my sheriff's dept. I contacted my attorney and he advised that the worse that can happen is the judge could restrain my assets or garnish my wages and since I have no job or assets I'll take my chances!

I also received the same message about cavil suit and restraining order and can net get thru to anyone at the number.

Call was received on my parents' home phone for my ex husband's first ex wife. WTF?! It was an automated message stating what everyone else has said: - This is a civil investigations unit, complaint being filed against you, pursuant - Claim/Affidavit #XXXX-XXXX - Named respondant in court action and must appear - You must call 803-393-4089 - The order to show cause contains a restraining order - You and your attorney will have 24-48 hours to oppose this matter - Thank you and good luck I called the # 3 times back to back and got these results: 1. Pressed 2: "your call cannot be completed at this time, please try again later" 2. Pressed 0: "your call cannot be transferred at this time, please try again later" 3. Pressed nothing: "your call cannot be transferred at this time, please try again later" I would definitely urge people not to stress/panic right off the bat after getting this call. If you really need to go to court for some reason someone will physically come to your door and serve you with papers.
