- MBurke| 1 replyThis number keeps ringing - no messages. I have caller ID and will refuse to answer any phone number not identified or an apparent solicitation.
- DeeThis number calls every day. Sometimes twice a day. Caller ID says Clover, SC. They leave no message.
- TammyYet another unsolicited call. I hang up on them, and they keep calling back.
- Caller: Not Available
- kateReceived a call this morning, being I have caller ID I do not answer but they call at least 1 or twice each week. So sick of these people calling. I wrote the attorney general of my state and was referred to the consumers affairs office. No one is going to do anything about these calls. There are so many for them to handle. Just simply do not answer is my only solution.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- rrI see this unknown number is back. Was all quiet for several months but seems they are back in circle. I have no idea who r what they are except a thorn in my side.
- Caller: unknown
- Ben DoverSomebody sitting on their rump eating Cheetos making a fortune playing off all the buffoons who fall for their line of dung. If you quit answering their calls, or even worse, sending them your hard-earned money, this bunk will eventually stop. Are you in?
- Caller: Unknown Caller (of course)
- Lucy| 3 repliesHere's my latest solution-
In my best radio voice I have recorded the following message to be played to all "out of area" or annonymous callers:
"Hello and thank you for calling! Your call is very important to us. Please listen carefully as our menu options have recently changed.
If you would like any personal information, such as Social Security numbers, employment verification, addresses or alternate phone numbers, please stick your finger up your butt.
If you would like any financial information, such as bank account numbers, credit or debit card numbers, or winning lottery ticket numbers, please stick your head up your butt.
If you would like to make vague, veiled or annonymous threats, please stick your entire phone up your butt.
If you would like to call again, please be advised that you may hear a loud and prolonged whistling noise that sounds something like this (loud coach's whistle).
Again, Thank you for calling, and please remember to have a nice day!"
We'll see how well this works!- Caller: annonymous
- SandySome fake SC state trooper charity scam. I hung up on him pretty quickly.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Wendy replies to MBurkeThis is the South Carolina FOP looking for contributions
- Lisa replies to LucyLove this idea!
- JerryThis number calls a lot, even on Sundays, but does not leave a message. It shows up as Clover, SC sometimes, but I do not know anyone from that area.
- MissyJust got a call from this number. I screen my calls so I did not answer and they left no message.
- TRBeen getting calls from this number everyday for the past week. They never leave a message.
- CALThis number is back....... calling again 803.610.2799 Clover SC
- Tabby replies to LucyLove the pre-recorded idea. Freaking fantastic.
They are trying to get money to help support officers and their families (supposedly). He just read off his paragraphs and wouldnt let me talk. Finally he said "these families really need your support... Would you like to make a contribution? Alot of our contributors tend to start around $150.00."
This is where I knew it was odd. I said "so most people give you $150 when you first call?" He said "yes, people feel that officers and their families sacrifice so much for us that they feel its the least they can do. And many of them contribute monthly or bimonthly."
And that is when I knew it was fraud. Not only did this @$$h0|£ tell me (in one breath) how much I should give, but also how often I should give it and he tried to guilt me into it.
So I told him "Im sorry but I cant afford to give money away."
Him: not even for the fallen police that keep you safe
Me: well im living paycheck to paycheck. And still cant keep up. I dont have it.
Him: everyone can spare alittle for those in need.
Me: not everyone!
Him: well alot of people contribute less, could yoy do $50?
Me: no sir I cant afford that.
Him: how about $20
Him: lets make it $15 and ill send you a care package (or something)? These families are in need.
Me: well im in need so would you like to spare some? By the way how much do you get paid?
Him: mam my check has nothing to do with helping these people.
Me: well you want my money so I think its a fair question. How much do you give to this charity sir?
Him: I think giving them money out of my check from them is kinda redundant.
Me: if its such a good cause that you believe in so much to call me 5 times in 2 days to take money from me then why dont you make a contibution? Then you send me proof of it and I will work extra to make enough to match it. Make sure you include your bank acct or credit card # when you send your proof since you want mine.
Him: theres no need to be rude mam!
THEN HE HUNG UP! - bob hopetell them they have the wrong number, stops them in there tracks and they DONT call back, lmao!!!
- JSmithGot call from them saying they where direct buy and that I would get a free tablet if I signed up with them
- Caller: Direct Buy
- Call type: Telemarketer
- SueWow...this number seems to be used for many things. Mine was from "Direct Buy" and I just won a $25,000 kitchen makeover. I asked them not to call back. The lady was very polite and agreed to take my number off her list. I will wait and see if my phone starts ringing off the hook again when I pick up the call by accident.
- Caller: Direct Buy
- DavidJust got a call from this number. Some woman said I had just won something, bla bla bla. I really couldn't hear half of what she said because of all the background noise. It sounded like a room full of others on the phone as well. Maybe they were all talking to winners! Anyway, I told her I wasn't interested and she asked why not? I said, just because. She hung up in my face. lol
- Susie| 1 replyThey didn't even try to scam me. They just hung up. I looked the number up to try to figure out if it was someone I knew pranking me (I live in South Carolina) and came across this page! But I have gotten other calls from Direct Buy, I didn't notice the phone number because Direct Buy is a legit business. I signed up for a showcase with them but never got the confirmation e-mail, so I called Direct Buy the day of and they had no record of me signing up or being invited.
