This is an extortion scam. I started talking to an 18 year old girl off of okcupid. Her name was Denise Jameson, her number was 803-678-7253, and she supposedly lived in Worcester MA. She started sending nudes. Then she said she was really 15. I said I wasn't comfortable with that, and did not want to meet up.

Shortly afterwards I get a call from the "father", (803-504-4610), saying he believed that I wasn't a threat, but that his daughter had been hospitalized due to an anxiety attack that occurred when her parents caught her taking pictures of herself, and that he was willing to not go to the police if I wired him the money to cover the medical bill. The name associated with the accounts that I was supposed to wire the money to was Richard Mayfield. He had a southern accent, and kept calling me "son".

This guy had me so worried that I had harmed a child, financially burdened a family, and was potentially going to go to prison and/or be labeled a sex offender that I almost sent the money. I was so emotionally wracked that I totally lost sight of the fact that I hadn't even committed a crime!

Fortunately my family set me straight. No father would be attempting to extort money from someone he knew was innocent, nor refrain from going to the cops to protect his daughter if he thought there was any danger. When I mentioned the need to talk to a lawyer first, he flipped out. Haven't heard back since.

Once I realized that both numbers were from South Carolina, and that the 803-504-4610 number was involved in a similar scheme that someone else has posted about online, I knew for sure it was all a scam.
