I got a on July 8th 2011 at 10:12am from 803-810-0662. The woman asked to speak to the owner of the phone number she called (my phone number), I than asked who was calling and she said "Direct Buy". I told her I was not interested and hung up on her.

Got a call from this # yesterday and told them we are listed on a do-not-call registry and that I am not interested in their sales pitch.

The kept saying I had won a $50K home makeover, blah, blah.  Lots of background noise, like a boiler room of callers.

Finally, just had to hang up.  But, guess who I had a missed call from this morning?  Yep, same #.

I think it was called DirectBuy

I got a call from the same number, 8030810-0662, but did not answer.  No message was left either.  I do not pick up calls that I do not know.  They can leave a message if it is important.

I answered the phone and it was Direct Buy trying to get me to do some crap to win a home makeover.  When I told them I wasn't interested and hung up they literally called me back over 15 times and left 4 messages.  They even started calling me from a number in Texas, my husband had to threaten them to get them to stop calling.

Yesterday, a woman from this number called my cell phone and launched into some unintelligible spiel before I could say anything - heard that she was "right here in Columbia, SC," but the number was from Clover. I finally interrupted her & said not to EVER call my cell again. She said she would call my "alternate number" -- I said not to bother. Reallyreallyreally ticked me off! It infuriated me that telemarketers could eat up my minutes.

Has anyone reported these people to the DO NOT CALL registry??? I started receiving calls yesterday from these people on my cell phone which is on the DO NOT CALL registry... Something legal has to be done to stop this. They are "breaking the law" of the ACT. Is there a petition somewhere we can all sign and say we're getting harrassed and their not abiding by the ACT so they can be fined right out of business???  Please Advise if anyone knows...

Got one today on my Fax line. The Fax signal that the caller hears is an appropriate response to callers like this.

I like calling them back from Gmail, i just keep the window open in the corner of my screen while Im browsing the web and click the redial button every time they answer. I usually give them about 50-100 un-traceable hang up calls like this whenever I think about it...cheap smiles :)   ring..hello? click...ring..hello? click. >>>>>>>>>>>>

Direct buy.  They say you are a semi-finalist in a home makeover contest and that you are entitled to a weekend getaway and restaurant gift card...then after "confirming" some information from you, they try to schedule a 1.5 hour tour of their showroom.

Direct Buy.  He asked for "Sammy," and I told them that they had the wrong number. (I don't know anyone named Sammy.)  He said that since he had me on the line, Direct Buy....  I cut him off there and said that we're on the Do Not Call list.  He said that he would remove the number from their database.  I'm suspicious about whether Sammy really is in their system with my phone number or whether they are using that as an excuse to act like it's a wrong number.

Caller stated I had won $50,000 shopping spree with Direct Buy and that she was "not selling anything." When I asked caller why I kept getting called, she said "we call back in case maybe you are now interested" (!!!)

Her supervisor stated the company name is Direct Global not Direct Buy. Both promised number would be marked as Do Not Call, but they have called me 3 times now (asking for 3 different names!) so I don't have much confidence, especially since my number is already on the national Do Not Call registry and I shouldn't have heard from them in the first place.

I notice that the first post in this string is from 01 July 2011. I have been told that this is when the local DirectBuy franchise in Columbia began using a call center in the Philippines to handle DB's "overflow of leads". Some of you may understand how call center technology works. I am no expert, but I suspect it is possible for callers outside of Columbia to have their calls "forwarded" by a local number. This is conceptually how Google phone works.

I would be interested to hear directly from any or you - or others - about your experience with DirectBuy (or, "Direct Global" as the case might have been!).

    p.s. Thanks, Erica.
