Voice mail said Hunter Warfield, but the caller ID showed Starnet Paetec.

I answered the phone.  I said hello a couple of times.  They hung up without saying anything.  Total call time 17 seconds.  Some are associating this with Hunter Warfield.

Getting calls from this number for several weeks.  We do not answer calls from "unavailable" or from an area code/number that we do not recognize.  Most likely this is a debt collector phishing for cold accounts because 1. they never leave a voice mail message and 2. these are robo calls because we always get 3 calls/day, the 2nd coming 16 minutes after the 1st, and the 3rd coming 11 minutes after the 2nd.  I looked up the number and it is a Richmond number and identified with debt collector Hunter Warfield.  

These calls have continued daily.  Today I contacted Verizon Fraud Division and they confirmed that this number is associated with Hunter Warfield Collections based in Tampa, FL.  Verizon referred me to my state's attorney general's office where I have just filed an online complaint.

The saga continues.  No sooner than I had completed my complaint form with our state attorney general's office, I received my first of several daily calls from Hunter Warfield.  This time I answered, got no reply, but mentioned that I had just filed my complaint.  I hung up, waited a few seconds, then dialed #57 to prompt a trace on the call for future evidence.  Within the hour they called back, I answered, and this time a recording prompted me to call a number.  Instead, I called the 804-351-6259 number and got an actual person named Pat.  Pat told me that he was trying to collect a past due apartment rent on a female with a name similar to that of my wife.  I told him that he had the wrong person and that had someone actually spoken to either of us some 300 phone calls earlier, we could have saved him a lot of time and us a lot of hassle.  I told him that I had just filed a complaint with our attorney general's office.  He assured me that he was removing our telephone number.

What a coincidence: the very hour a file a complaint I get to speak to an actual person!  (right!)

Should anyone get these kinds of harrassing calls where no one will speak to you, file a complaint with your state attorney general, then dial #57 to put a trace on the call.  This will serve as evidence should the complaint be further investigated.  You may have to do a minimum of 3 traces for evidence.
