Message is cut off states "Against your name, (no name) concerning an illegal tax evasion a tax fraud and we have decided to take this matter to the Federal Claim Courthouse and we are about to issue a warrant for your arrest. But before we go ahead and do that, if you need any relevent information concerning this case you can call us back on our call back number and you can talk to the legal represent (doesn't say reprsentative) here. The number to reach us 804-433-3151 I repeat, 804-433-3151. Again this is Officer Franklin and you have a good day. Thank You."

I googled the number and only recently above does someone report, with no message.

    Nothing at the time.

I looked up Supreme Court and Federal Tax Claim Court with doc info and Nothing.

I also received a message identical to Jaime's and decided to call it to see if it was a scam.

A man with an Indian accent answered identifying himself as with the IRS. There was call center noise in the background.  He asked for my phone number (I gave him the one I received the message on and called from), then he asked to speak to my wife (he knew her name, possibly from caller ID).  He said something about tax fraud and asked if we had legal representation.  I asked him for more information regarding the case.  Then he covered the phone and spoke to someone on his end (muffled, I couldn't hear), and I was put on hold.  I hung up after 15 minutes of silence.

    Definitely smells like a scam.

I also have received two calls from this number at odd hours claiming to be the IRS.  When I said "no you are not"  he hung up.  Received another call on a Saturday morning.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Just received a voicemail message from an "Unknown number" from a man with what sounds like a Latino accent who calls himself Officer Franklin. He says that they saw I have committed "illegal tax evasion, tax fraud" (because it wasn't enough to say only "evasion") and they have gallantly decided to take this matter to the "federal claim courthouse." Is that what the IRS is called nowadays?

If I want more information on the legal details, I'm to call the 804-433-3151 number.

Instead, I plan to contact the Treasury Inspector General for Taxpayer Administration (TIGTA) to report this impersonation. I personally will be using TIGTA's online form, link below, but their phone number is included below, too:

FOR REPORTING TAX-RELATED/ IRS-IMPERSONATION SCAMS (tend to happen in the tax season):
Treasury Inspector General for Taxpayer Administration (TIGTA), contact info:

    Online scam report form:

(**Privacy tip because online form doesn't seem secure**: Fill in personal info that you're comfortable with, and put obviously generic info in other fields, in case you inadvertently put in someone else's actual personal info)

We got home and received the same identical message.  He identifies himself as Officer Franklin and when I called  that number (804) 433-3151 from a different phone,  he identifies himself as Officer Tucker.  I told him I had the wrong number. He sounds Indian or something foreign. I know they are trying to get people scared so they will give them personal information and money!   This is only January!!  We have three more months before Federal taxes are due - and these people need to be stopped!!
I truly wish we could do to them what they are threatening to do to us in their message!!  I would gladly press charges!!

Got the same message. Funny how they never mentioned anyone's name in my household. I've ready so many stories about these types of scams, I laughed immediately. I can't imagine the IRS would call you on the phone to tell you you're being arrested for tax evasion. I would think something official would come via the U.S. Postal Service.

Got the same call... guy had Indian accent and call center noise in the background.  He said he was from the IRS and wanted the name and number of my attorney.  I just about busted out laughing.  Scammers are so incredibly bad at what they do.

I just got a call from this guy, two actually.  The first time when I asked who it was he hung up.  The second time when I first picked up I said yeah you just called a while ago and hung up on me and he said no this is the first time I have called.  I said, then some one else from there did because this is the same number.  He said he needed to take down some information because we have charges against us for tax evasion. He asked if I had a criminal attorney.  I said no we don't have charges or we would have gotten something in the mail from the government or a summons at our door and I don't know what kind of scam you're running but you need to stop calling and harassing me. He didn't respond. I hung up. Lame and sad for the people that are falling for this crap!

    1/13/15 update:

I just got a call again from the same peeps, but now instead of it saying "Unknown number" on my caller ID, it shows the number 804-433-3151. Same voicemail as yesterday. Accidentally called back when trying to listen to the voicemail again, and I got a busy signal.

I'm reporting it to TIGTA again....

I had a phone call this morning saying that there is a lawsuit against me by the IRS. Said that the police came to my door but nobody was there. In 45 minutes my bank account will be frozen and a lean on my house and car! Did I want to take care of the matter? Yes I said, however I did not give him any information, and he finally hung up on me after 45 minutes of talking.
He then called back about an hour or so later giving this number for me to call, I did not call back.

They called the other day and left the same message as above. This morning they called and asked to talk to my wife about a "business matter."  Strong Indian accent. Wouldn't talk to me, and when I tried to insist, they hung up.  I then (perhaps foolishly but... I was royally annoyed) called back, and told them I was on to their scam and would go after them with everything i've got if they called back again. Surprise. They hung up. These guys REALLY need to be stopped. This is heinous.

Have received the same message cut-off at the beginning regarding a warrant for my arrest for ILLEGAL TAX EVASION.  I've been a responsible tax payer for over 40 years & would not even waste the time to call back the number given (804-433-3151) from "Officer Franklin".  The 2 messages on consecutive days were received at the same time (appx 3:30 PM PST).  Thanks to all the comments on this site as they confirm the obvious to all the good citizens out there.

Thanks to all of you for confirming what I already thought to be the case. I also have received the same call with the cut off beginning two days in a row. It's interesting that this is not the first time it's happened to me. It also happened about 3 months ago with the same basic message. I called back at that time, I was asked what number the message had been left on and when I told him he said that wasn't it, from there I got hot. He said the sheriff was being dispatched and they would be at my home to arrest me with-in 45 minutes. I told him fine, I would have the BBQ fired up and the cheese burgers ready along with a cold beer for everyone, he hung up. No one showed up. In addition to the above referenced contact info I'm going to touch base with my local DA's office. Seems to me there could be some sort of chargeable offense, he is after all claiming to be an officer with the IRS. Where I live claiming to be an officer is like impersonating an office which is a crime.
