Joker named "Officer" Keith Addison from the IRS said I was about to be taken into federal court for tax evasion. He has a foreign accent and apparently a number in Virginia somewhere near the Federal IRS office based on his area code. His number comes in on caller ID as unidentified. After some research I found that his number is NOT registered to the IRS offices anywhere. Apparently the carrier is Verizon. Last time I checked, that's a cell phone carrier. Additionally, I found his name listed here at 800 notes under a variety of other phone number posts with the same bogus IRS officer, tax evasion scam. Anyway, the Federal IRS offices would not be contacting anyone for a tax issue. They would have the local office in your area contact you by mail. They don't cold-call you.

We had a message on our home answering machine for our daughter who is away at college. The woman, who had an unidentified accent, said she was officer Linda Watson of the legal investigation department of the IRS and that she was looking into tax evasion charges against our daughter. She said to call this number immediately before the case went to the court. The caller's number on our caller ID showed as "private". Aside from the fact that our daughter is in college with practically no income, this sounded like some sort of scam. As the previous poster pointed out, this is not how the IRS would operate in any case.

Just received same call from Officer Linda Watson. Barely able to understand due to thick accent. Going to court for Tax Evasion. SOund real legit.

I had officer Steve Benson? or Keith Addison as stated above, call me in reference to some tax fraud case. Some thick middle eastern accent so i cannot tell you who he was. Told me to call this 804 number to get in touch with before this went to the courthouse.. Tried to call the number back and it rang busy. tried again and it was an improper number. SCAM ALERT
