- PeteCall came into home phone from an 800#. Said he was from IRS and knew both mine and husband's name. Also had our address. When I told him he was a scammer, he started arguing with me. He gave the name of Roger Reid and said that he was calling us regarding an audit for the IRS. Also said that the IRS had sent certified letter. Hung up on him. Bogus call.
- RichardThis Jerk left a message on my residence phone saying if I did not return his call I would be arrested. He has a terrible accent and is obviously a scammer. Do not be taken in by him.
- DanniReceived a call from this number stating that he was from IRS and that a legal petition was filed against us. That we would be arrested if we did not call back and make payment arrangements. The man had a very thick East Indian or Pakistanian accent he was very difficult to understand. In the background you could hear numerous other voices with the same accent. Does the IRS only hire individuals with such poor telephone skills? Believe that this is a scam.
- MikeReceived call with caller ID for the IRS (800-829-1040). Threatened to have my wife arrested unless she called 804-554-3033 to straighten out this legal action that would be taken against her. Caller identified himself as Brian Aramaker (not sure of spelling but that's how it sounded). The IRS put out a bulletin on this scam in October 2013 and it tells you what to do to report this scam.
- Caller: bogus IRS

- ATOTALSCAMI agree with all the others commenting here. When I told the heavy accented guy that he did not have my correct address he pushed me for my current address. He even went as far as to say he had been to my house, took a photo of my front door and that the door was locked! Wow....he tried to get access to my home! He asked me if I had an attorney to represent me and that he was from the IRS. I asked to speak to someone that did not have a problem speaking english....he declined and told me he was the only one I could talk to according to his attorney James. What a bunch of BS! When I asked for their call back number I was given 804-554-3033 to which I promptly called three times immediately and they hung up on me immediately.
(they called me on 800-829-1040 and gave me the call back number of 804-554-3033)

- KristinaGot a message saying that it was Kevin Smith from the IRS. Stated I had a legal petition against me and if I didn't call back that I would be arrested. The caller id came from 1-800-829-1040 but left 804-554-3033 as the callback. sounded like a scan, since the heavy accent, call center background and the bad connection. - Alfalfa replies to JIM G.If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.
The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.
By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.
Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.
They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.
Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.
The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.
If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.
http://money.cnn.com/2015/01/22/pf/taxes/irs-tax-scams/ - CDReceived a message on my home phone from a man with a heavy East Indian accent, identifying himself as "Office Gary Anderson," that he was from the IRS and they had a warrant for my arrest. Police Dept in my city (Laguna Beach, CA) didn't care, unless they had actually stolen money. G
uess these scam calls are OK to do unless they're successful. numer he left was 804-554-3033.- Caller: Scam, stated from IRS
- Call type: Prank
- jdubSame as all the rest: Officer Gary Anderson (with a think Indian accent) left a threatening message. He was with "the tax audit department of the IRS." There is a legal petition notice in the name of (this is really funny) my ex-husband who has never lived at this residence, nor ever had this phone number...and they got his name completely wrong.
So before we get arrested, we need to call 804-554-3033
I just filed a complaint with the Tax Inspector General for Tax Administration at http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml
