Answered once and there was no one on the line.  They called again today and didn't leave a message on the machine.  CAlled back and it says the line isn't in service.

The telemarketer introduces himself as Jeff Clark, and uses the number 805-148-6792. I believe their dispatcher's name was given as Harold.

Clark has Caller ID blocked, it just says "name unavailable." That number is spoofed and not a real phone number. If you call, recording says "number not in service or has been disconnected."

The actual business paying this high pressure scammer telemarketer is California Preferred Builders, Inc., doing business at 20335 Ventura Blvd., Suite 422, Woodland Hills, CA 91364.

Many complaints about California Preferred Builders can be found online, ranging from scam telemarketing, to shoddy or incomplete work, missing deadlines, and ripping off senior citizens. The company seems like a mess to me, with zero integrity and no willingness to abide by state and federal laws controlling telemarketers.

Their State Corporation# is C3172576. They filed for incorporation in 2008.

The company has used the spoofed number of 213-221-8402 starting back in 2010 (see 800Notes input), and recently in November 2012 seems to have switched to a new fake number (805-148-6792) for Ventura County, or maybe they just added another fake line to trick you into answering what seems to be a local call - which is how I was drawn into a conversation with telemarketer Jeff Clark tonight.

Thanks JbP for the info! Called the jurk at california-builders 2 times will not take me off his call list so I call my phone service company and was able to block the 8051486792.

I just called Jacob's co. The guy who answered said he's not Jacob - and I started screaming profanities. Maybe we should contact Consumer Affairs and other agencies to stop these thieves. How can they continue doing shoddy work and harassing people on the phone. This [***] needs his day in court.

These pond scum people call quiet frequently. We told them we're on the DO NOT CALL LIST. They don't care and said if WE'RE not nice, they'll keep calling.  Really!!  Hmmm, what's next........

Said his company would be in the area and wanted to sign us up for a site visit/consultation. I asked how he got my number. He danced around the question then flat out refused to explain where he got the number. I said we're on the Do Not Call list and that he was in violation. He then proceeded to try to "educate" me on the DNC because he was an "expert" and it was part of his job. I pointed out that he obviously wasn't doing his job well. When pressed, he admitted they do NOT scrub their list against the DNC. The argumentative [***] continued to try to justify his actions as I was hanging up.

If he had apologized for his mistake and made me think he really didn't understand the DNC violation, I probably would have let it go. Instead, I filed a complaint with the FTC and the CA Contractor Licensing Board.

I have gotten repeated calls from this caller. I also got calls from them from the 213 number; now I get them from their 805 area code number. I was almost fooled the first time, since I live in the 805 area code.

As each previous time, I posted a complaint on the Do Not Call Registry.

I have to wonder why the staff at the Do Not Call Registry hasn't cracked down on them yet. I never read any news articles anywhere about any of these callers getting busted, and I have to wonder what is the point of of the complaint system if nothing ever gets done. grrrrr......

Here's an idea:  What if we all answer and setup bogus appointments for their in-home estimates but use vacant addresses in Ventura County? That would significantly raise the cost on their end of the equation. Whether it's them or they are just a lead generation service for others, this would become an expensive time waster for the perpetrators of these illegal calls, undermining their business model that supports this behavior.

I've already been setting up appts. with these idiots.  I send them to the foreclosed house across the street for 'repairs'.  I can sit and watch them from the comfort of my home!  Retribution helps my frustration level...just a bit!

They call at least every other day.  No one ever answers when I pick up.  Sick of this.  So, thanks to JbP's info, I called the 818 number and got a voicemail box.  At the tone, I recorded my message - I played Rebecca Black's "Friday" in its entirety.  I might do this a few more times and just fill up his mailbox.

We had "Privacy Manager" on our phone and we already filed a complaint to the "Do Not Call"...it does not seems to work. I spoke to the lady few weeks ago, I explained to her there is NO CRISTY BROOK living here! The calls stop....for awhile! and then they start all over again.

I have caller ID and she left a voicemail.  She whispered "make him pay" in a sadistic way.  I can hear other telemarketers in the background.  Time to block calls from this number.
