The caller, Cambria, CA., ( displayed as ID on our phone ), called us @ 16:04, 04.23.2015. We missed the call, I return the call hiding mu number. I heard this message: " The mail box is full, , try later." This message were repeated many time. Yesterday, 04.22.2015, the caller used 203-0258 & Cambria, CA. without area code to call us
@ 10:35 A.M., but that number is not in service. I'll report this number to www.fcc.gov/complaints. We received several calls from Cambria, CA. which is about 100 mile north of us by the ocean

I have an unlisted telephone number and a few years ago put my phone number on the FCC “Do Not Call” (DNC) list. Soon after this I started getting 5 to 10 calls a day from telemarketers/scammers. I also discovered the FCC is clueless or helpless on how to enforce the list. After doing some research and reading the 800notes comments I discovered why. The telemarketers actually use this same list to call us!!! They realize the FCC will not, or cannot, stop the calls so why not use the list? The head of the FCC in charge of enforcing the list is Thomas Edgar Wheeler. Before his FCC position Mr. Wheeler worked as a lobbyist for the cable and wireless industry. He was appointed by President Obama to run the agency in 2013. Many people at the time expressed concern over Wheeler for the position due to his history of lobbying for industry. So don’t question why you are getting these annoying calls as long as Mr. Wheeler is in charge of enforcing the list. If you are really unhappy with the annoying calls then write to your congressman, senators, news agencies, 60 minutes, etc. and let's get rid of Mr. Wheeler another do nothing, worthless, government employee.

Do you really think a change of who heads the FCC is going solve your problem?    You obviously have no clue what the DNC is, or how it works.  Instead of crying woe is me, the government won't help me,  why not help yourself?  Invest in a call blocking device.  Google is your friend...

The list has to be paid for and why would any telemarketer want to buy a list when all they have to do is plumb a set of numbers into a computer or dialer?

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

This is a scam call claiming we need to have our furnace serviced again, urgently!  We are renters, so we do not have the furnace serviced.  When I asked who authorized the service previously they gave me my wife's maiden name.

Predictive auto dialer, hung up 10 seconds after answering. Called number back, operator message says no such number.

My wife got called today at 10:27am and whoever was in the other side told her the same think about furnace service, after she said that we don't need the service, the guy in the other side treat her say that he will find her. If you are reading this, and if something ever happens to my wife, that will be your last mistake.

No messages left on any of the three calls. Seems like they are fishing for a time to call and get someone. Either that, or they are getting desperate.

Company identified as Air Quality..insisting they have come out to our house and serviced our A/C...we only use one company and it's not them..and we live hours from Cambria, nice try...they keep wasting their time.

Called me at 10:53a. Area identified as Northern Los Angeles. Did not answer and they didn't leave a message. I'm blocking the number based on what I've read here.

I don't suppose you have mr wheeler's phone number - home or office will do. Then I can set up a call forward on my phone and pass all of these calls to him.

Thanks for the info - I think you are right about how the do not call list is being used and abused.
