Gave me a case number, I called back and tried to say I took a loan out in 2012 for 610.00.  I asked for proof of the loan since I did not have any documentation or remember taking this loan out.  They said that they could not provide me with that and that I could dispute the debt then hung up on me.  Most likely a scam!!! BEWARE.

They have been calling me for 5 years.  I called the number and they promised to take my number off.  Maybe if we all use *67 to turn off our csller ID and call asking for the free sex line, they might stop harassing people.

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Was a wrong number and they left a voicemail.  It's an automated dialing service.  They are a Service of Process company hired to track down and serve papers for lawsuits.

Not a debt collector.  They are trying to serve you papers for a lawsuit.  They were hired by someone else who is trying to collect from you.  They wont provide you proof because they are not the loan company, they are just contractors helping the loan company sue you.  Check your credit report.

What a load of bull excrement. If they're trying to collect they are legally required to provide the documentation: Both documentation of the debt itself and of their authorization to collect it.

by refusing to provide documentation these "debt collectors" are inviolation of the law and should be reported to the authorities as quickly as possible. See the links Big A provided.

Not true. A process server will never call in advance – that would just alert people that they're about to be served and allow them to skip town or otherwise dodge service. These people are clearly up to something else.

I got the same call and I asked them who they were they got mad.  I called back and their vm does not even state what company or firm they are.  A real debt collection agency would at least have a name and a reputable web site. Furthermore a debt collection agency cannot serve you lawsuit papers. Someone such as a constable or a sherriff from the county you reside in has to do it in person.

I say we just call them everyday and harrass them.  Or when they call just make weird noises into the phone.  Beware of numbers that begin with 844, 810, 991. Etc.....  These are all scam numbers and most of them are from India.  Some of them are even sending phony emails.

Well I'm glad I found out who these idiots are. I have been getting this 810-221-0268 number for over 2 months.
I called them today to find out exactly what the hell they are talking about, after months of voice mails being left stating "we are calling you about a complaint filed against you in our office" and want to give you an opportunity to make right and even gave me a case number LM22661
Well I called, first got a Tanisha, then by the third time got a Keith Edwards, that I have been harrassing all morning to get an address and name of his company.
Well finally got the company name out of him, as Recovery Solutions Group. I asked what type of Recovery, big mistake, he goes into a tirade about not giving me the company's address and fax number and what type of information that is about me. I keep calling back, he then proceeds to tell me, that he will not give me any more information, because I could be the uni bomber or some fanatic, trying to come to their offices and blow them up, and how could this number be dialing out because it's an automated system.
That was your first mistake buddy, because, guess what, you're being reported to the Michigan and Texas State Attorney Generals office.
Hmmmm, guess we was scammed, huh
