Lower your interest rate scam.

I did not recognize the number on my cell phone (217 area code). I did not want to use my daytime minutes so I didn't answer. They did not leave a message.

I called the number back on my work phone (208 area code). It rang 13x before my phone service disconnected the call.

Called my five times within minute. I let the first call ring through, but did not answer. They then proceeded to call another four times.

This is a FRAUD caller.  I'm on the DO NOT CALL list.  If we all report them, maybe they will get FINED.

I continually gets calls from this number even after I tell them to take me off their list!!!!!

What options does one have to defend against intrusive callers?

• The Do Not Call list (Federal or State)
Works, but is effective against ONLY "legitimate" telemarketers.  Political callers, surveys and some other callers are exempt.   Scammers, spammers and criminals ignore the DNC list.

• Shouting, screaming, swearing at the caller
Nope.  Does not stop calls.  May make you hoarse, and will disturb nearby people.

• Call blocker app, device or service
Could be a good choice (even though the scammers can use fake phone numbers), and some apps are free!
Google "call blocker" for more information, or check your favorite online sales site for a list.

* Your phone provider may also offer blocking services.  Check their web page for information.

If you cannot use any of the above defenses, then:
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.

• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.

I do not want any type of solicitating calls. If I need something I will do the calling. Please do not call me again.

Called my cell phone at noon today, I did not answer, they left no message.
I blocked the number on my Nokia 521 Windows phone (look at your call history, press your finger on the number, and up come choices including "Block Number...")

Did not answer this 812-397-1923 that came in on my cell phone.  Going to place it on my blocked list after reading the posts on this site!

Tried to call me on my cell.  Denied. Blocked.

The fed's "do not call list" is the biggest con since the tooth fairy.

The Fed is probably in on it.  "here are the numbers of the saps"  Probably getting kick backs for every number.  Don't bother your elected officials, they have to grill the NFL and Dr. OZ.  Dey got's sum bidness to tend to dont you know.

No one at this site is calling you.   Call blocker is your best bet. Also, don't  pick up on numbers you do not recognize.

You are advised to take of your Tin Hat before posting.  The DNC does in fact work, but it will not deter scofflaws and criminals. Yes, people are prosecuted for violations of the DNC rules.

Credit card services.  Been told NUMEROUS times to remove number and stop calling.  Does not help, and they use different numbers.  It is disgusting that the public has to be annoyed by these scammers and no one seems to do anything about it.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
