This number is from American General Finance.  I made a puchase from a mattress company on a special 'no interest no payment for a one year loan.'   AG is the finance company and they have pestered me ever since to borrow more money.  I told them to stop calling and they ignore this.

I wrote a letter to the mattress company telling them that I will never buy from them again if I am penalized with unsolicited phone calls to borrow money from their contract loan company.  I told them to use another more friendly lender.   I have not heard from either company but will file a complaint to the "Do not call" registry."

Received 5 phone calls from this number the last week between 10am on the weekend to 8pm at night on weekdays.  Found this website, called it back because it was American General and asked to be removed from the call list.  They then go to tell me that I will get more calls because it takes a while to get me out of the system....blah. I will post back if the calls don't stop within the week.

They are calling from American General Finance.  I financed new furniture with them in order to get 0% interest for a year.  Now, they call AND send me stuff in the mail wanting to loan me more money.  Every time, I tell them the same thing - I'm perfectly fine financially, don't need a loan, and please put me on your do not call list.  That has yet to happen.

I have had several calls for a woman asking for me at my house.  She would never leave a name or message so I googled it to find your postings.  Yes I purchased a mattress from the Mattress King and received 18 months at 0% from AG now I get at least 2 letters a week some with checks already made out in my name.

Yes, I have received several calls from this number. They call even on saturday mornings and never leave messages. I financed a new mattress a few weeks ago, I think that may be the reason.

I have a loan with American General and they keep calling me to get me to open another loan. I have asked them to take me off their list atleast once a week. They call my cell about 5 times a week while i am at work. They won't leave me alone.

I got a call, lady identified herself as working for American General, who financed the heating system I just had installed. She asked if I got a card offering me money, and I told her I shredded it - and she hung up. I am worried that she could somehow twist the phone responses to say I agreed to buy something. Possible?

I got a call this morning.  After reviewing this site, I called the number.  They asked what kind of loan I was interested in.  I do have a loan outstanding, but am not interested in additional loans.  I asked the gentleman to take me off the Courtesy Call list.  He was very nice and entered my request in their system while I was on the phone.

Obviously they are desperate for business in a slowing economy.

We need to get the Attorney General from every state to stop
their Telemarketing ploys - hiding behind this so called "courtesy
call" - what a LIE.....people who don't even have a loan
with AGF, or are paying on time, are being solicited for more
loans = more debt. AGF needs to spend their energies elsewhere,
like TV, Radio, Internet or Print advertising, and cut out the
telemarketing.  

Anyone notice that American General Finance is a division of AIG,
the company the federal government just bailed out!  Creeps!!!

I have been receiving calls from this number, usually while I'm sleeping because I sleep late in the mornings.  There is never a message.  After reading these comments, I called.  It was American General Finance, where I do have a furniture account.  I asked to be removed from the courtesy list and was told that I would be.

Called this morning, very 'private' about what the call pertained to.  Asked for my husband, told the caller he was not home, may I take a message? She said no, she'd call back.  Didn't ask me when would be a good time, when he was expected in, etc.  Nothing of the sort, leading me to believe that she will just keep calling until she gets him.  We are on the do not call registry, we have unlisted numbers.  After googling the phone number on called ID to no end, I found this site with the same exact number.  And now I know who is calling and what it's about.  Thanks so much for that!  I cannot stand these 'suspicious' calls that come in on occasion.  Now I know when I get this call again to say "take me off of your list."

I've taken the advice of many commenters on this site, and I called the number back (812-437-7744).  I pressed '2' for more options.  Was transferred to a customer service agent who was VERY pleasant.  Immediately placed me on their 'do not call' list and told me that if I received another call, to tell the caller that I was on their 'do not call' list, and that the calls would stop.  The rep did mention that I may get one more call from them, as the system updates, but that the calls really should stop.  We have a small loan with them for a heating system.  I'm not sure what the terms are, but the loan is not due for some time now, so I believe it truly is a solicitation.  I'm confident from my talk with the agent that the calls will stop, and I honestly found them to be quite pleasant.  Of course, we did only receive one call - this morning.  And yes, when the call came in, there was a LONG pause between my "hello" and their voice.  Annoying, to say the least.

No messages. They never leave a message. I am on the DO NOT CALL list as well as their do not call list yet they still call. They wait a month when I call them back to tell them NOT to call and then start up again with the calling.

When they ask 4me I say not home and can I take a message.Of course they dont wanna leave a message. Aint life great. I thought the economy was so bad they nobody would lend money.That may be true except for vultures like American General.BTW their interest rate is the higest allowed by law.

This makes sense. I recently bought a mattress set from Ashley Furniture, and these calls started. It's a shame the prices we pay for a cell phone, as well as other goods we buy, that we are subjected to these unwanted solicitations.

My situation exactly!  They mean no harm...they're not a collection agency.

Just call them back and tell them you're not interested. They received your number because you either have a loan through them or applied for a loan.
