My father's employer @ his home phone# received a voice message for me from a Robert Thomas,8638631962 stating that I needed to contact him back  with in 48hrs a restraining order had been filed with a avidavit # 6-cahn-3997 along with other info..funny thing is I don't even have my father's employer of 40+yrs home phone # so I don't even know how they associated me with him...I also tried to contact the caller's #  United Process and Service Corp....If this is some kinda collection agency,Isn't there some kinda law against this kinda process? I would appreciate any input. I don't have any problems with anyone for there to be a restraining order filed against me.. This is slander..It would be stressful enough to receive a phone call myself but for my father's employer to receive this message @ his home in reference of a restraining order against me and for him and his wife having to pass this message to my father...omg..this is crazy!

This number keeps calling my brother and sister inlaw saying they are the sherriff and if I don't call them back that a warrent will be issued on me. They keep calling them even after repeatedly telling them not to call them anymore. I have a "case" number but I haven't called them back yet.

I got a call as well from a private number, they left a message containing incoherant legal jargon. Funny thing is I'm a law student an immediately knew the terms the caller was throwing out there didn't make sense. "I'm responding to an affidavit, if you don't respond the restraining order will be placed" bla bla bla. I don't know what scam or ploy this is, but I can see a lot of people falling for this garbage! If I owe a debt, just say so! Why try an trick someone??

No, it is not crazy. They are criminals trying to scam money so you cannot believe *anything* they say. See links to the FBI's warning above.

Sheriffs do not issue warrants for civil debt, the courts do. They are lying scammers. See link to the FBI's warning above.

Because the debts they are claiming people owe are false debts. They are scammers. See link to the FBI's warning above.

My husband had gotten a voicemail message from this number and forwarded it to me.  The lady's name was Kimberly Reed and she claimed to be a private investigator.  Reed stated that my husband was a respondent in court action, and had an order to show cause in restraining order.  Something about an affidavit and case number was given.  CRU-1065.  She closed by saying "Thank you and Good Luck"  She encouraged this message to be forwarded to an attorney, but if they didn't hear back in 24-48 hours they would continue with legal action.

My husband came home on a break and called them with them on speaker-phone so I could hear.  It was hard to understand the guy, but he claimed to be a litigator with the name of Shawn Faks.  Faks stated we owed 1362.69, but would settle for 691.34.  Said it was credit card debt, I believe he said WorldOne credit or something.  We never had any cards like that.  When i did some research I found all these people reporting the same number so I called back demanding proof of this debt.  She said she could only talk to Branden (my husband).  I told her if she could talk to my sister, then she could talk to me--his wife!!  She said branden must've listed my sister as a reference, which I shot back,"My husband doesn't even have my sister's contact information-so how did you get it??"  Then I told her there was stuff all over the web about their number and how it's a scam and that was all the proof I needed and hung up on her.

I tried to find out more information so I called the number back.  It said they were all busy and I started pressing random buttons to try and get through to someone.  Finally, a lady named Simone Harris/office supervisor answered.  I told her I needed to send money and where should I send it, and she asked if my last name was Jefferson.  I said yes (even though it's not) and she said it didn't show anyone had contacted them yet.  I asked for the people my husband had talked to and she said both of them were away from the office at the moment.  Then I asked was her credited business i.d. number was so I could check her out.  She refused to give me that information and hung up on me.

I first got a call from a woman named Amanda Jennings, who said they were holding an affidavit against my husband and that I needed to call the number listed above and they could tell me who filed it and what it was about.  I called the number and got a very nasty person.  She asked if I was related to my husband and I told her I was married to him.  Then she asked me to give her the first three digits of his social security number which I refused to do, and at that point, she became agitated.  I told her I knew they were debt collectors and that we owed nothing and that I was going to report them to our local police.  She went off on me and said they were a law firm and they had every right to be calling us and since I wouldn't verify his social, she wasn't going to talk to me.  Breaks my heart.  I was told this company's name is United Process & Service Corporation in Tampa, FL.

I got a call from a unknown # and they left a message.
It was a voicemail message from this number (813-863-1962)  The lady's name was Kimberly Reed and she claimed to be a private investigator.  Reed stated that i needed to respondent in court action, and had an order to show cause in restraining order.  Something about an affidavit and case number was given.  CAEN-1783.  She closed by saying "Thank you and Good Luck"  She encouraged this message to be forwarded to an attorney, but if they didn't hear back in 24-48 hours they would continue with legal action.
I called back and asked what was going on, with very vague answers.
I too asked for a buisness #, to no advail.
I told the lady i knew it was a scam and that she didnt need to be coy about it. She said she'd never known that, and that she'd probably google the number when she got home.
This had scam written all over it, through and through.

This company called me a few months ago. I didn't respond. They called again today with the same information others listed above, call back this number, it's the litigation department, they have a pending lawsuit against me and gave me an affidavit number to refer to. I called my sister, who is an attorney and she told me to 1) Not respond to anything, 2) Look it up on Google, 3) It's a scam. If someone is going to "serve" you with pending litigation, they will find you and have you served the correct way, not by phone being threatened. I can't believe how people come up with scams to take money from everyday, hard working people. IGNORE IT. If it's real, whoever it is, they'll find you. Otherwise, all it does it get us upset over something we don't even know exists! Don't let them do it!  By the way, if you have time, file the complaint with the FBI. It's the only way we can stop people like this. THIS IS A SCAM....
