"Andy" asking for my 14 year old daughter by name...??
I didn't answer when I saw the number. I recieved another call this morning from an 813 number and when I looked it up on this site, it sounds like exactly the same kind of call.
Hi all. We just got a call from this number too. My husband answered the phone and the guy refered to himself as "Patrick from Universal" and that he got my number from my hotmail account (which we all know they don't sell their information) he asked for me by my first name only (that was odd) then my husband asked what this could be regarding on a holiday Monday (It's Thanksgiving for us today) "Patrick" ended up hanging up on my husband. So I looked up the number and found that this number is located in Tampa Central Florida. My husband also called the number back and it said the number wasn't in service! So I googled the number and found this site. Stupid scammers!
This number called me, I didn't answer and then they didn't leave a message. I tried calling back, but it was out of service.
If they call you back and ask for your credit card number, try and make them think you are actually going to give it to them. Then stall...say things like "oh crap where are my glasses..." or "oh, I think that was the expiry date, did I just give you the number or the expiry date?" and continue on like that. This will waste their time. It does nothing more than waste their time, but if they are on the phone with you, they are less likely to be scamming someone else.
Yup...we get calls from these guys too saying they got my number from Yahoo! They call later on in the evening too...which isn't legal in Canada for telemarketing calls. I just hang up now. They call a few times per evening though...pretty persistent...and annoying.
