same thing happened to us this morning, they called @ 11:26 EST with no one on the line... we are a 2 person clinical office that rarely gets calls outside of our area code unless it is a telemarketer...

when i answered there was nobody there. no name on caller id

OK, they just called again, no one on the line. I called them back - had a pleasant woman admit they have a computer dialer, she inquired who's in charge of our utilities, I politely told her we're a licensed business INSIDE of a major national retail store INSIDE of a shopping mall and that I really was unable to help her. She said she'd take our number off the list, but who knows. At least she was nice...

called about some free medical crap, tried to call back 814 753 4736 but was busy.

Didn't answer since I didn't recognize the number.  Later I called the number and got a recording that it was a no no-working number!  What's up with that?

These people have been reported to the authorities who are aware.

You didn't report them to the "authorities", and if you did, they don't care.

just got a new phone number today and the first call was from 814-753-4736 caller ID says "state college Pa" I changed my number because of the unwanted calls day and night now I guess I will have to do it again..we will see...

There's little point...keep in mind it's not a 'new' number-it's someone else's OLD one

get a cell or landline phone that can block numbers and eliminate the nonsense yourself.  Never answer an unfamiliar number or call it back.  Check online if you are curious as to who it was and if it is like this call block it.

It's called spoofing.  Google it.

Today at about noon someone in State Collage, PA either spoofed or used an existing spam number to try and promote some miracle cream that health insurance is supposed to cover. Believe that and they'll probably also sell you a few of Brooklyn's bridges. That was the recording left on my machine. Since other folks say that they have been targeted to try a new lawn care product or something else for seniors I'm going to guess all the promotions from this number are fraudulent.
