- corteysha lamb| 1 replyThis number was continuously calling me. A man with a thick Indian accent who calls himself Allen Marshall told me I was approved for a 5000.00 loan. He told me I had to put 100.00 on a green dot pre paid card. This was supposed to be proof that I could make the monthly loan payment and since my credit is not all that great. I put the mo eyes on the card and never got the loan. I was ripped off. I feel pretty stupid..I need to know what can be done to stop these people and press criminal charges. That's what they are is criminals. .

And, you never will.
The scammer recognized you as somebody who was very gullible, and continued to milk you for money.
Since you fell for that scam, you are probably going to fall for others, unless you educate yourself.
Copy the following, print it, and paste it near your computer monitor.
Things to believe:
• There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
• If it sounds (or looks) too good to be true, it probably is.
• You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, or a grant from a gracious government
• The tooth fairy really does not exist
• Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
• It is illegal to ask for money for a loan or prize, before awarding the loan or prize!
• "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
• Microsoft or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
• The moon is not made of green cheese.
• The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
• Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
• If you "green dot", MoneyGram or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
• You should beware of Greeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse with termites.
