I had complained several times in an on-going email to AT&T ( which took over SBC) regarding incorrect dsl billing and later that day when I got back home this number appeared on my caller id. I have not called it back yet but I too believe it to be DSL customer service
you are correct - this is in response to an email inquiry and it is an at&t number. their response time is impecable - 24 hours. If you call back the number it tells you of an 800 number to dial.
I got a call from this number at approx. 11:30 p.m. so I don't think it was a call about my DSL. Someone told me that they had a long distance calling card that they might use so it might have been them. Maybe ATT uses these random numbers for certain functions like that.
I also had contacted ATT on the phone about a repair service and an email question about billing-then this afternoon this number was shown as a missed call on my cellphone. But-no message left. Why would a legitimate ATT call not leave a message? Suspicious to say the least.
I have received two calls from this number in the past two hours. Neither time has the caller left a message. I called the number and a recording said that this was a non-working number for AT&T. I am appalled that AT&T would call and not leave messages and not leave any way to have the call returned.
Same thing. Got two calls back to back from this number. Reported a problem yesterday with my att billing. Why would they not leave a message or call from a 1-800 #? Called back and said to call a 1-800 number.
I got a call from this number at 2:14pm today (Sunday) right in the middle of my daughter's birthday party, so left it for the machine to pick up. They left no message. I have recently contacted AT&T about ongoing DSL charges when I discontinued mt service in October, 2007. From the other posts, I'm think maybe it was from them.
YES THIS IS IN FACT AN AT&T CUSTOMER SUPPORT NUMBER! I COMPLAINED ABOUT ATT DOING SEVERAL MONTHS WORTH OF WORK IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD TO THEIR CUSTOMER CARE DEPT. IN AN EMAIL.. THEN THIS NUMBER{1-816-251-2970} CALLED AND IN FACT LEFT A MESSAGE STATING THAT THEY WERE CALLING REGARDING MY EMAIL!! SO BOTTOM LINE THIS IS A LEGIT AT&T NUMBER...HOPE THIS HELPS!
I sent an email about my bill and received a call just a few minutes later from AT&T about the problem. Great service and response time. I have to say I was impressed. This was about 430p on a Friday....
If the person who was inquiring about dsl wrote an email late at night, at/t was probably calling back, and I believe it was legitimate, but the company should leave a message with a returnable phone number if the customer wants to call back....
Yes, I agree with others as I beefed via email this AM because I took something OFF the bill but they obviously chose to raise the DSL so I'm paying MORE! The call was unfamilier on the Caller ID but it WAS a legit call as I received an email later in the day saying it was ATT & they were trying to reach me. Yadda Yadda...Bottom line: they raised my bill after I removed the LINEBACKER feature that would save us about $8 a month but they decided to raise the DSL. We're in IL & we've been AT & T customers forever(like when I lived with Grandma & Dad).
Called ATT regarding a downed cable line at the back of my property, they called back - tag teamed me on my home and cellular phone, since it wasn't a number I knew I didn't answer it (political call season and all) but left no message which was kind of dumb - I called back this number after reading these posts and then the 800 number on the recording and waited a few minutes to talk to a repair rep only to learn that they had a ticket up to check it out, I guess they were going to just tell me it was going to be looked at, why couldn't they leave a message??? Oh Well.
05/01/08 I just rec'd a call from this number, after I had E-mailed AT&T customer service yesterday. I screen all calls and if they had left a message saying they were AT&T, I would have picked up the call immediately. In this day and age, when many people are screening their calls, why would a company NOT announce their name. I would think this would save THEM and the consumer a lot of time. Now that I've read these E-mails and know the caller I'll catch the next call.
I received a call on May 13 at 2:18pm I did not answer this call, the answering machine got it. It was an ATT rep calling me about not paying the amount to cancel my long distance on our land line. She was calling to say the bill will be adjusted and the amount is cancelled from the bill. It only took 4 months to get this squared up.
I just emailed AT&T and they called me within the hour! THis is a legit telephone number. I spoke with the AT&T representative and he called exactly about what i was inquirying.
Yes, it is a legitimate number - have a service call in to AT&T and just received an email back from them saying they had tried to reach me on my cel [AFTER I TOLD THEM REPEATEDLY TO PLEASE USE EMAIL AND NOT TO CALL ON THE CELLULAR NUMBER AS I AM AT WORK AND CAN'T ANSWER lol]...
