Attempting to collect zombie debt is a crime that becomes a federal offense when a collection company lies to the credit bureaus to try and reinstate an expired account, especially since they have no way to verify such debts in a court of law. Companies like DCI bank on the consumer not knowing simple collection laws and try to terrorise people into paying them. That's dishonest and about as slimey as it can get.
Don't think you have to put up with it! Answer next time they call and ask them not to call again. Get your phone logs from your phone company the next time/s they call. With those records showing them calling, you can sue for $1,000.00 each call. And don't ever pay anything without sending out a verification request. if you don't know what that is, look up debt validation online and read it! These people have to have undisputed proof that you owe! A photocopy is not enough! it must be a signed contract! Also, feel free to. complain on the FTC website!

This company has made calls to us for the last couple of weeks.  The person they are looking for is not at this number.  They continue to call and say if you are this person press the number 1.  This number 1 has never been pressed but the calls continue.
