Call received from "Max Turner".

Said I owe $3,200 and if I don't pay then it will go up to $10,000 or more.  Didn't even have my name.  He asked me "to whom am I speaking" and I said "you called me... who were you trying to reach?"  From there he started telling me about how a sherriff will come to my door to serve a subpoena, and actually started calling me by a completely different name (I never told him who I am).

Sure seems like random fishing for cash and an attempt to use extortion.

Asked me if I have a computer.  

  Umm, who doesn't?  

Then said that I used the computer to steal something.  

 Oh?  What would he have said if I didn't have a computer?

I asked him for the name of the company he represents... he didn't answer and started talking about how a lawsuit will be very costly or some nonesense.  I hung up.

Dumbass scammers.

Received message from a Max Turner also talking about a subpoena and personal information.  Said I should call back by Monday or have my attorney contact him.  I immediately started to investigate and I thank you all for writing so I know this is a scam.  Thanks again.  The telephone number matches 818-292-8065.  I don't know anyone from Agoura Hills, CA.

I am getting the same person "Max Turner" calling me.  How do you get to stop him from calling?

He keeps calling me and talking about a copyright infringment case and wants an out of court settlement of 3200 if you know how to stop the calls please tell me.

I got a call from 8182928930 he said his name was Glen Powers and is claiming copyright infringement.

I'm going to try and layout as much as I can.

Memorial Day 2011 my wife and I got a phone call from a guy claiming to be "Robert Bryce" from a law-firm in Miami, FL handling a class action lawsuit on behalf of a guy from California.  He called my cell phone and asked for my wife (by her maiden name).  It was odd that he called my number and not her's, and that he asked for her by her maiden name.
She took the call and put it on speaker phone, and same thing- he went in to telling us how we had illegally downloaded a pornography titled film in December 2010.  I wrote down as much as I could from what he said, and at the same time was checking the dates on our computers.  The dates he said in question we weren't home, we were in Philadelphia for the Army/Navy game, this was my first tip off to this being a scam.  We continued to listen and got as much information as we could.
At one point he claimed our ISP had been served a warrant for our information and we were "John Doe 100" in the lawsuit.  My wife called our ISP and no such warrant had been issued against our home IP address.
We consulted with our legal team and decided to contact the FBI for further information.  It turns out this is in fact a known a scam and the FBI took our information and what we had.  Robert Bryce called back a few days later and began to threaten us, very harshly, and we informed him we had contacted the FBI and he could direct his inquiries there and he hung up on us with no other words said.
We didn't receive another call for approx. 6 months, when this time we began getting calls from a number out of California.
I put the number on my AT&T Blocked Call listing and we didn't get a call again until today (approx 4 months later).
Different name, different legal team "pretending to be calling," and requesting my wife again by her maiden name.  This is whole heartedly a scam.  We don't even bother answering the calls anymore when they do call.

Got the same run around with the same situation. I am glad you contacted the FBI.

I read these things before, i did what you all are doing. a six months later, i got [***] served!!!!! what the [***].

Where are you located?? Have you consulted an attorney?
