3 rings & hang up ? Why, why do these people call, leave no message. Jerks

I keep getting calls from this number but they just hang up when I answer.  Now they have another phone number attached that reads starting with a U51416070300087.  This long number shows up first and comes from Montreal, Canada, then the 818 number shows up.  I have a blocked number on purpose as I am continually bothered by telemarketers and severely depressed couch potatoes who have nothing better to do that to bother people!  PLEASE - SHUT THEM DOWN!!!   I BETTER NOT GET A CHARGE FROM THIS ALL - I WILL TAKE IT TO THE POLICE THEN! AND TO MY TELEPHONE CARRIER!!

Will somebody please explain to me the purpose of these calls? Why do they hang up? Which they would get a life!

i get a call about 2-3 times a week from the 818-397-7631 and  it's some [***] saying he's calling from  the tujunga home  center...THERE IS  NO  FREAK'G TUJUNGA HOME  CENTER!

A fellow named George alleges to be from a construction  company named "Presidential" but refuses to give any other identifying information.  No such company appears to exist and he refused to give a contractor license number, but offered to send someone to show it.  When asked to put me on his Do Not Call list he became belligerent and abusive.

Just another scamming telemarketer.  I did not answer but I DID BLOCK their future calls.

Buy a call blocking phone or device - they work and they are inexpensive.

These guys will leave no stone unturned in their quest to rip off unsuspecting members of the public.  Best to ignore them and even better to block them, which is what I am doing.

No message - just hang ups.  I'm on the do not call registry.  Annoying.

I get calls from this number 818-397-7631 and when I pick up nobody answers and after 10-15 seconds hang up.

These guys continually call and claim to have had a prior conversation with whomever isn't home at the time. "they are a local contractor who will be in the neighborhood", or a duct cleaner or some other scammer.  Have asked repeatedly for them not to call again.  

This # calls every day and hangs up.  It's so annoying.

Our phones do not ring when a blocked call comes in.

Folks, you must buy a call blocking phone or device - they work and they are inexpensive.

Makes me wonder how many Fools take the bait.

What's the "bait"?  NO contractor charges for an estimate, even if he is NOT "in the neighborhood."

I have my doubts that these calls are actually what they appear to be.  I don't think anybody would want an unidentified "contractor" (who refuses to provide a contractor's license number and who is making a cold call from a spoofed number) come to his or her home to give an "estimate."  

I think this is more likely just a phishing scam to get a physical address to associate with your phone number.

I got a call from this number.  I asked him for his contractor licence. He refused to give to give. So I said when he does come out, he will be met by members from the State Contractors board. He hung-up.

Received call.  Didn't answer.  They didn't leave a message.

Calls - asks for me by name - then hangs up. When I try to call back a recording comes on stating the person is unavailable

calls twice at same time, to tie UP both of your lines, if you have call waiting.
