Receive 3 phone calls today from the same phone number 818-493-1971.   Call went to voice mail but did not leave a message.  I suspect telemarketer call.

I received 3 calls today from 818-493-1971, the first two, no msg, the last one, they stumbled as they asked for me by my first name.  It was not someone whose native language is english, maybe an Indian accent.

Called yesterday on unlisted home phone number that is rarely used, asking for me by name. Person from my household who answered couldn't understand them...said they had a heavy accent, asking something about my computer? That number is not associated with any computer purchase/software or anything of the sort. Sounds like a possible "tech support scam".

I got called by this number too. The area code is apparently San Fernando CA, but the accent was probably Indian. I've had similar calls before that were different scams and the guy talks slowly and assumes you don't even know the first thing about your keyboard let alone your computer (how else are they supposed to successfully con you). On this one he told me that pnf files are bad. In fact they are compiled inf files created when an inf script is run which installs drivers. Anything which installs drivers could be a virus, but he seemed to imply that they were all viruses. It pays to look things up on the internet while being called by "customer service". I think I got calls like this before and when I answered I just got a funny noise and a long delay. This time I waited longer and eventually got a voice. Maybe this has to do with a trick to redirect the call through a proxy to make it less suspicious.

Over the last several days have received at least one or two calls, even three per day. Never have answered since unknown caller appears on I.D. No message is ever left. Thanks to Eric for at least some explanation.

They have been calling two or three times a day for several days now. We don't answer and they never leave a message. Blocked it on my phone but the phone always rings at least once before it disconnects the calls which has gotten annoying so I blocked it with my telephone provider so now it will never ring.

I have received numerous calls from this number, always asking for me by first name.  First "Max" called, twice in same day.  I told him that I do not understand what he is saying and hung up.  Then "David" called, who I could understand.  David informed me that their server is getting messages about viruses coming from computer in my house.  When I asked which computer company he is with, he replied Windows.  I told him I am not running windows on my computer and think he is trying to scam me, then hung up.  Today a female named "Benjamin" phoned with the same message.  I told her that my only access is with Ipad so I think I am ok.  I am ready to file a police report for harassment!

Called me 3-4 in the past.  Tech 24 x 7 (times 7??) was the company name.  Heavy Indian accent, when I talked to them for a couple minutes I was handed over to a less heavy Indian accent.  I talked to him for a couple more minutes and asked repeatedly what he was offering.  I then asked him to hold a minute, set the phone down and walked away.  I think he sat there for about 5 minutes before hanging up :)

Some Indian sounding jerk scammer pretending that he knew my computer needed fixing - this is a very  popular scam.
My neighbor fell for it and they grabbed her bank account  information and started debiting her account.
    BE CAREFUL!

Indian man.  Called to say he was from "computer support" regarding the call about the windows computer in our home.  We do not have a windows computer in our home.  For sure a scam.  I told him off BIG TIME.  Jerks.

Called today and told because I am a registered Windows based computer user all the computers in my city ( he named it) are shutting down completely.  He told me I was not computer savvy and would not understand how he got my number when I asked multiple times.  When I asked for the company's number that he worked for ~ Tech24/7~ he gave me my number with a different area code but gave me the numbers 2 digits at a time so I would not notice it was my number.  When I brought this to his attention he hung up.

Was told that my computer was "pinging" in their office and was in need of immediate fixing. I should go to my computer immediately and log in and he would help me "fix" it. Told him I was going to report him to the police and he hung up.  BE CAREFUL. Never go and open your computer up for anyone in a random call!
He also had a heavy accent.

I told a girl off today.  Guess she didn't like it because she called me back and said I was an F'ing [***] or something like that.  Then she tried to call me back and I screamed into the phone!  Bet she wasn't expecting that.  Then I blocked the number
