- jetamesCalled - said that they were the North Hollywood Home Center. I knew it was the usual home improvement scam but, I thought I would play along and burn up their time.
When I asked where they were located the caller said that they were on Lankershim Blvd. I live 1/2 block from Lankersim so naturally I asked WHERE on Lankershim were they located.
The caller hung up on me.

- LizI answered my phone to their rep, Melissa. She stated she had spoken to me before about home improvements. I stated "No you haven't." That flustered her a little bit. She asked if there was anything needing to be done at our address on *** Avenue (she stated our correct street address). I asked the name of her business. She stated "Home Improvement Center." I typed in "Home Improvement Center" on Google and asked is it "homeimprovementcenter.biz?" She stated "yes." I clicked on homeimprovementcenter.biz and I asked "Are you doing business in Amherst, New York? She stated "no" and we don't have a website. I asked what city they were doing business out of. She stated "mid city". I asked "what state" since I've never heard of Mid City. She stated "California." I asked her a few more questions and she passed me off to her supervisor.
The supervisor got on the line and stated that they don't have a web address because they pass those cost savings onto the home owner. I asked what city they were doing business in. He stated the Wilshire district but we have an office in "Simi Valley" (which is where we live.) I asked the address of their business in Simi Valley. He tried to use every one of my questions with a question back such as "Can we have a rep stop by and answer all of these questions?" He stated they were just a call center. I asked if they had a business license number or a bond number or something with some sort of professional presence. He stated a rep could stop by. I raised my voice and stated "You have no professional presence whatsoever and I'm supposed to believe that you're not a scam?" He hung up on me.
What scares me is that these scammers have everyone's addresses.- Caller: Home Improvement Center
