- megI recently received a phone call from this number and they are a scam!! Beware!! The only advise I have for you is to put an alert on all three credit reports, go to your local social security office and put a red flag on your file, make a police report and then call the local FBI (your local police dept will provide you with your local FBI number). Take this very serious! I also contacted the CA bar and there is no such person as Kyle Cooper and there is no such person as Thomas Wright is the "financial dept" Please do not go to K-Mart or Wal-Mart and wire these people any money!!! Their intention is to scare you into believing that you owe money. They tried to collect 480.00 from me. Also, I suggest to block their number with your current carrier. I have all their calls recorded, file all the necessary reports and hopefully this will start an investigation in shutting them down.
- Caller: Attorney Kyle Cooper
- rbI also received a number, this one is a new one to me. Said he was with the financial crime division of FBI (no such dept). I asked him to stop right there, that I needed to let him be aware that I was recording this call, and would be turning it over to the CA police dept, my local police department, and FBI. As soon as I said FBI he hung up on me.
- Natalie| 1 replyI just received a phone call 30 mins ago stating that i have 3 alligations against me that i have no reculation of. - rb replies to Nataliedid they have thick middle eastern accents? they did with me, and are a scam trying to get you to pay on a loan that you do not have. Tell them that according to US law, I (you) must be notified in writing, and unless they do that, they are breaking the law.
I filed a report with the FBI online, and already received a call from an agent that recommended the above, but since I told them I was contacting the FBI and that should they every call my POE I would file suit against them I haven't heard anything.
Is just another way to fund their activities now is how I look at it. I just hate that they have the majority of my information. - rebecca koretzi just got a call also and they hardly even speak english i will do all the above and let them know about it thanks

This is the 3rd call from scammers in the last 5 days. Am tired of it. Call came from Sherman Oaks CA, number 818-666-7076.
- DDJust received a call from 818-666-7076 saying they were from the Financial Crime Bureau and they had 3 warrants for my arrest. They asked if I knew about it....of course not! I asked what for and all he would say is to call his boss Kyle Cooper at the same number, that he was just a paralegal. I am so angry!!!

- Branwen| 2 repliesInitially, these people started contacting me about a month ago to tell me they were suing me for unpaid payday loans. They could not be specific about where I took these loans out. Left names on my voicemail such as Brian Wilson, but when you called the number back and asked to speak to Brian Wilson, the same person would tell you Brian Wilson was not available, and then become verbally abusive. Each time I spoke with someone from this number I would tell them it smelled like a scam to me, and then they'd start screaming at me and get threatening. Now, a month later, they are calling me, and it's a computer generated voice stating that they are the IRS, and that they have additional money for me in an amount over $2,000 and all I have to do is contact them and give them my account number.
- Caller: IRS
- Alfalfa replies to BranwenThis is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2012/08/bgm.shtm - Branwen replies to BranwenI just blocked my number, and called them back. A middle eastern individual answered the call. Stated he was from the IRS taxation. When I responded, "And...?" he said I was calling from a blocked number and he couldn't help me then hung up. When I immediately called back, I get a voicemail saying it was from the National Crime Bureau in Los Angeles California. What's really funny is the person I spoke to sounded so much like Brian Wilson from the payday loan scam.
