these people are A holes. Why dial numbers, 3 rings and hang up. Doesn't this cost them money for these phones. I wish i could get these a holes and water board them. Give them the Bush Chaney treatment.

Called yesterday looking for my deceased ex-husband (he passed nearly eight years ago).  When I said he was deceased and said I was the ex-wife, he then tried his sales pitch.  I said if you don't know who you're calling, I'm not buying what you're selling.  Something to do with the house and improvements.  Sherman Oaks, CA.

I didn't answer. Obviously a fake number (sequential -- 789-3245?)  Added to my reject list.

Answered but not a word and hung up on me. What's the deal with these people.

Got called with fraudulent ID: V 32809033300148 no doubt to block them!

Update:

Clearview Energy.  I have six different numbers from them in my caller ID.  They call three times a day.  I've asked that they stop and they don't.

3/31 11:12 PDT Just tried to call, but went to voicemail and no message left.  No ID so wouldn't have answered in any case.  So incredibly tired of all of these unidentified callers.

I answered and there was silence. Then when they asked for me, I thought it might be a debt collector so I said "no she's not here may I take a message" the lady asked if Meg lives in a house or apartment and if it is a home if she owns it or rents. I said she rents why, the lady said no reason.. never mind and hung up. When I tried to call the number back it was disconnected.

Said his name was Paul and he asked for me by name.  Wanted to know what my list for home improvements was.  I ended the call.

Same here today.I have learned to  screen my calls now. I never answer the phone right away nor do I answer any privacy calls or unavailable numbers  not shown  on my answering machine.

Dead air, no response.  Caller ID says unavailable.

I answered on the second ring and said "hello."  A male voice said, "Hey, _____, how are ya." using my first name.  I said, "who's calling?"  The phone went dead and he hung up.

this number is so GOOD for us not to answer it. Now this number is added to our BLOCK list. LOSERS!
