Another new number, I see.  These idiots target the female of the household in an attempt to strong arm them into donating money, at which time they 'accidentally' charge the wrong amount to the donations.  Only a small percentage of the donations actually go to meet the needs of the people they claim to help.  Most officers in Southern California asked about the 'CA FOP' have never even heard of it.  

If you are going to donate to your local Fire/Police Dept., please do so at your local station.  They are more than willing to help and the money will actually be allocated to where it is most needed.

19Feb2010  1800hrs. Answered the phone, male caller asked for my wife by name. asked who this was, caller said is this not (wifes name), I said no(DUH), then caller moaned and hung up. I redialed number and got an idiotiotic answering machine recording. Called back a couple of times, same thing. Got on google and got reverse number service (People Lookup). It reported that phone is in the name of Lillian Lai, 9006 Eames, Northridge, CA 91324. Relatives: Lillian Lent,Linda Lai, Karjuang Lai. Look up address on Virtual Earth (Bing) and it is a real address(house). Called back to tell them I might be over, no reply. If this is a scam to get money for a bogus Fraternal Order of Police(as reported in a previous post, never got that far with us), who just happen to be in their real donation mode at this time( just got their request in the mail after a phone solicitation and ask for a hard mail form), I hope nobody falls for it. Maybe the police will get them for doing such a thing to them and their fine charity. One can only hope.
