Bogus.Return the call and it asked for my number so it could be removed from a call list.
I just got called it is the second time from this number. I got it once last month as well. Curious, I looked on here and all it is is a scam. I called it back to see what they said and it has the operator saying it can't be completed as dialed. I am in Springfield Or so they must be sweeping the state.
Called by this number on my private CELL phone and am very irritated. If they call again I will report them to my carrier and any other relevant federal agencies. when you call these bums back there is just automated bs asking you to input your number. Yeah, right.
Just received a call on my cell phone, which I NEVER give out to anyone except family and friends. I didn't pick it up because I didn't recognize it and of course, they didn't leave a message! I hope that the scumbags that are doing this will be found out!
A follow up to my own post, I just noticed that two others were in Portland area. I am in La Grande Oregon, so they must be sweeping the state of Oregon at the moment.
Just got one of these calls. A hangup as soon as I answered my cell. I called back and got the same "Enter your number to be removed from list." message as previously reported here.
Same BS... I asked where they got my cell number from and they claimed that they work with auto manufacturers and one or more warranties were expiring. I asked again, as not getting an actual response to my question and the telemarketer asked if I would like to be removed from their list and I stated "Yes, thank you" and she hung up on me.
The whole thing is a scam, all of my vehicles still have remaining warranties!
Just got a call from this robot, I live near Seattle. (818) is an area code I recognize from the greater Los Angeles area. I did "press one to speak to a representative". The lady barely spoke English, definitely sounded Hispanic, and asked if I was interested in renewing my warranty.
I asked which company she was with. She paused for a few seconds and said "Uhhh... we work with Chevy." I said "Great, well I have a Ford." She said "Oh, I'll remove you from the list" and hung up on me immediately.
If somebody who gets a call from them could go a little deeper into the questions with fake information, and see what they are looking for, that would be grand. I'm guessing this is linked to identity theft.
This has been reported in the news by KOMO 4 News. There are likely investigators looking into this, since such a warranty is not explicitly forbidden, and others who have purchased a "renewed third party warranty" could not use them.
The company as reported by KOMO 4, is the target of a pending lawsuit.
This is why I strongly recommend checking consumer news and local news sources for information regarding the latest telemarketing scams in order to protect yourselves. Share this data with your friends, and make sure they connect themselves to the lawsuit so you can benefit from this if necessary to ensure that such scams do not occur again.
This call came into my work phone number. The caller at first is a recording saying "This is the second and final notice the warranty on my car is about to expire but it's not too late to purchase an extension" and to press 1 to talk to customer service. I sensed this was bogus since both my cars I bought new less than one year ago. For entertainment I pressed 1. A live person, a young male voice, without any kind of greeting or salutation just went straignt into "Do you want to buy a warranty extension?". I said "For which one of my cars are we talking about?". He immediately hung up. I hit redial on the caller id number, and I got that same recording to enter my phone number and press # to be removed.
They rang my number, I didn't answer it because it's not familiar, so I look it on immediately on computer as it is still ringing and I found this site.
The recorded message said to press 1 regarding my expiring car warranty. I asked the name of the company I was dealing with and the wouldn't tell me. They wanted to know what my name was, the model and year of my car. I told them they called me so which of my six cars were they talking about? I also asked that since they called me with information about my car, why didn't they know my name. I told them I wanted to know who they were before I was going to give them information about me. They hung up.
They have called all of our phone #s including a land line. This has been going on for about 4 weeks. They are even calling my 12 year old daughters cell #. I have asked them to remove all of our #s from their "call back list", several times. This has not worked. If you return the call, all you get is a recording asking for your #. They are located in Canoga Park CA.
They have called me today in the middle of seeing a movie! They immediately hung up when I answered and when I tried calling back I got the automated voice telling me to put in my telephone number. I wasn't about to do that just in case.
Try filing a complaint by getting the name of the company, the time and date in which they called and go here: http://www.atg.wa.gov/ (Click Consumer Complaint in the top right!)
Same as all the rest. Call came thru on cell phone. No message left. When I called back I was asked to key in my phone number with area code and hit the # sign to remove my number from further calls. DEFINITLEY A SCAM !!!
