This number came up on my cell phone. Appears to be one of those "get out of debt" companies. Since I have no debt, save for my mortgage, it seems they are just carpet-bombing known numbers.
Undoubtedly, this telemarketer is using a predictive dialer to call your cellphone. This is illegal. The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) specifically forbids predictive dialed calls to cellphones; no exceptions.
The TCPA also gives you the right to sue these dolts for a specified dollar amount (I think it's $500) for *each call* they make to your cellphone -- even if they made just one call. You can file suit yourself (usually in small claims court) or retain a consumer law attorney who will take care of it on your behalf. Many times, by the way, the telemarketer settles out of court. Here's more information about suing these dumb@sses for fun and profit:
I've received three call from this number now. They left a message this last time telling me it was imperative that I call back right away. The guys name is Chris St.James and the call back number is 800-210-2892. He gave a company name as well but it was hard to understand. Something like Rodco. It's a debt reduction scam...
I just got my home phone hooked up today and received a called from this Chris St. James. I didn't answer but caller ID showed it was from California. He left a message saying that it's imperative that I call back right away about my debit. I'll make sure to jump right on it.
got a call from this number. Tried to call back repeatedly, lady would just hang up on me each time. They even tell you to push 1 to have your number removed from there system. But when you push 1, it hangs up as well.
Got the call as well, asked them repetedly what the name of the company was and they wouldn't say. Sounds like their calling from a sweatshop with all the noise. Total scam, filed number with ftc.gov
They have a website and claim to be providers of "consumer information," alerting users to "hot deals," etc. On-line shopping. Found 2 addresses on the Web: (1) 230 Park Ave., Ste 864, New York, NY 10169 (ph# (212) 295-2121); (2) Lisa Prichard, 6038 Arthur Street, Hollywood, FL 33024 (ph# (954) 983-2672. May be involved in other more scam-related things (debt reduction, warranty extension) - don't know. Have not called them back.
i answer to a recording telling me about dish satillite and dvr service instructiong me to push one...i am so sick of people not answering for them selves I PUSH ONE! when she prompted me to take part in there "service" i told her to make a note of my number and use that little button called delete. of course she hung up on me. as long as these r-tards keep calling, i'm going to keep on messing with them!
They called but didn't say anything. They keep calling and not talking so I just tell them about my day and they listen its very sweet hahahaha They eventually hang up after like 5 min.
Same number cam up on my work phone. 'This is Corey from Intercounty Records' -- some kind of debt-relief phishing scam. Prompted to push one to talk to a rep, pushed one, line went dead. Plan on tracking number.
they have been calling several times a day for weeks now and I just either don't answer or hang up when their recorded "hi I'm Corey from Intercounty records and you qualify for our debt reduction program" line comes on. The name "Consumer Corp." is what shows on my I.D. caller. I wish someone would make them GO AWAY!
Yup, a call from Chris St James at 818-870-8183 the last 3 days in a row, ON OUR WORK NUMBERS! Which are registered at the national do-not-call registry, too. Shame, shame...
