I got a call from them on Jan 28 around 9:20AM. They have a recording saying something about a Car Factory Warranty. I did actually waited to talk to the Agent, and told them this was a scam. They would not say which company they represented.
THIS COMPANY HAS CALLED MY HOME & MY CELL # SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE SAME, LEFT A MESSAGE MY AUTO WARRANTY WAS UP. MY VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE TRIED TO CALL THEM TO TELL THEM TO STOP PHONING, BUT WHEN YOU CALL #, YOU ONLY GET A BUSY SIGNAL. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THEY GET YOUR CELL#
THIS IS SMAP MASS-CALLING. It is a used car warranty company based out of California. Big scammers. They probably found you because you either just bought a car, or you are selling a car on the internet. They are trying to sell you a warranty on your used car.
First spam call on my cell in years, unbelievable. Needless to say, I want them stopped. Is there any way to find out what country they're calling from. I'm in Canada and our do not call list is law. I'd like to see if it's possible to actually get them charged. What I can't figure out is why is there a market for stupid scams like this? How many utterly doofuses are there out there to fall for this? Must be a lot otherwise they wouldn't be doing this.
The Canadian DNCL doesn't apply to American companies. This is a loop hole used to get around the DNCL, Canadians outsource to external companies, in the US and they can call us without any fear of consequences!
01/28/2009: I just got a call from this number on my cell phone as well at about 10:55. It's amazing what people will try to do to seperate you from your money. I knew it was a scam right away and called my dealership here in Canada to confirm. I googled the area code and it said it was from California. Unreal!
