- DavidReceived a call about two weeks before the sales call by someone "conducting a survey". Yesterday, I received a call about investing in "Dorothy of Oz The Movie" ... I am not sure if this is a scam or not. I was sent an e-mail and the caller "Chris" called me back in 2-3 minutes asking me to at least reply to the e-mail. He said, "All you have to do is click on reply, that way I know you got the e-mail" Of course. I didn't. VERY INTERESTING: THE CEO WAS NOT MARK SAVOY as posted in an earlier report it was "Christopher S" BEWARE! I am turning this matter over to the Economic Crime Unit.

- KEC replies to Producer| 2 repliesI attended a viewing of art work and a portion of the movie "Dorothy of Oz in a Warner's viewing room on Friday, 3/4/11. Several people involved with the production and the filming spoke to us about the film. Certainly looked like the real deal to me and the other 15 or twenty investors.
- producer replies to KECYes, I know. Our crew was there filming. Funny damn stuff! Don't worry, we won't be asking you for a release or anything LOL.
- DavidOn July 9, 1999, the State of California filed a complaint against Teleshare, Inc., a California telecommunications company for which Messrs. Roland and Ryan Carroll served as directors, Alpine Pictures, Lord Protector, Cavalier Partners, Roland Carroll,
Ryan Carroll and Stewart Whipple (the president of Teleshare) alleging violations of the California Corporation Code and seeking a permanent injunction against the defendants
against further violations of the California Corporation Code; recission offers to certain purchasers of the Lord Protector and Cavalier Partners partnership interests; and payment of fees to offset the court administrative and investigative costs.
The defendants have filed a consent with the court for entry of a permanent injunction and the other requested relief without admitting or denying the allegations of the complaint. The permanent injunction, if issued, would restrain Alpine Pictures, Inc., Lord Protector Partners, Cavalier Partners, Stewart Whipple, Roland Carroll and Ryan Carroll from
offering to sell, selling, or engaging in the business of selling any securities of any kind in violation of the qualification or exemption requirements of the California Corporations Code Section 251110.
In June, 1999, Alpine Pictures entered into a settlement agreement with the State of Illinois
agreeing to make a recission offer to three investors in regard to such investors’ purchase of securities of Alpine Pictures aggregating less then $10,000 which sales were made in reliance on certain exemptions from registration in Illinois prior to completion of the
required filings thereto.
A Desist and Refrain Order for violations of the Corporations Code was issued by the California Department of Corporations on November 23rd, 2009.
An investor who has worked with Alpine Pictures in the past issued this report on Google Finance in October of last year:
“Well it seems that Alpine Pictures has burned so many bridges and
scammed so many people that now they have to change their name to
Summertime Entertainment. I used to work for the company and all they
talked about was how Dorothy of Oz would finally make people believe
they were a legitimate production company.”
“They have changed their name once before to Box Office Productions [then to Box Office Productions II, again to Box Office Productions III, then to The Family Film Fund]. This a common practice for them. The way to see through this is, instead looking out for this
company. Look out for Ryan Carrol and Roland Carrol. Anything
produced by these guys is pure garbage.”
Many other investors have advised newcomers to avoid investing in anything having to do with Carroll Brothers, you can read other investment scam reports related to Alpine Pictures by simply searching “Alpine Pictures Investment Scam”.

Dorothy of Oz isn't even a Warner Bros. film. - Sidney replies to JohnI am also an invester in the movie. I just hope this does make it to the theaters. At this point with all the negative comments on this I just hope none of us loose any money on this. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I also in vested in Alpine Pictures and it seems that is just a waste of money and can only hope to somehow get that investment back.
Thanks
sidneybarker@gmail.com - KT| 2 repliesAlso an investor along with a friend. Not sure how anyone can say that it is not a real project , plenty of sources on the web about the movie and the actors and directors involved.I've seen initial clips of the movie and think it will be a winner. As far as the injunctions , they are related to a firm hired early on in the fund-raising which was calling non-accredited investors. Will it make money - nothing guaranteed in life but the outlook for the project looks positive.
- MSK| 3 repliesLOS ANGELES - These defendants sold more than $2.6 million in illegal, unqualified "shares," despite previous cease-and-desist orders against all of them, the California attorney general says: Alpine Pictures, Dorothy Of Oz LLC dba Box Office Productions III LLC, Ryan Carroll, Rene Torres, and Neil Kaufman.

It is not so much a matter of whether it is real or not. The question no one bothers to ask is how the money is being spent Greg Centineo says he has raised over $50M and if my calculations are correct that is a commission to him of $10M. I would be excited too. He can't fail. The production company also made over $10M so far, again they win, and how the other $30 M was spent is anyone's guess. Has anyone seen a cost report, budget or any accounting documents? If they aren’t raising money legally why would they do anything else legally? It doesn’t seem to really matter to Greg, and the others because they have all become rich.; VERY rich in a bad economy.- Call type: Telemarketer
- Investor| 7 repliesThe producers initially told me they need to raise $24 million to make the movie, but now they're still collecting money from investors and recruiting them. If they've already made their $24,000,000 goal why are they still collecting money? I believe that the $24 million that they raised is going toward making the film, but what about the rest of the $50M they've collected so far? That's what Id like to know.
- InvestorToo| 14 repliesMSK - appreciate the links, its always good to have as much info as possible , good or bad. I will have to look over them in detail.
Your commission amount looks high - 20%? From what I have read , it is 15% (still high but raising money for movies is not a low fee business!). Also, not sure what you mean by production company getting $10,000,000? Obviously you are not an investor but you must have been close to the project at some time in the past.
As far as Investor's question about the add'l cash, it's in the legal documents what they intend to do with it. Off the top of my head I know there are costs involved in adding the 3D work to the film , cost to hire licensing agents , cost associated with building the virtual world as well as general advertising and PR expenses.
Is this a risky investment - yes. I would put it at the extreme end of the risk spectrum. But so is any investment, esp the stock market with computers running the show these days. We'll know in a year or two whether this project was a good one or a bad one. If it doesn't work out, I'll be the first to post here that I made an investment mistake (wouldn't be my first one either). If it works out well , I'll post that also and hopefully you'll be still around to reply.
Have a good weekend , I'm heading out for da beach to cool off! - MSK replies to InvestorToo| 11 repliesThe PPM that I received lists the managing menber as receiving 22%, not sure about the 15%. I also read that the "production" fee is 20% and that there is a "distribution" fee as well.
of course tehre are costs involved, that is a rather assine assumption. I'd love to sell you a million dollar car and expain that a lot goes into making cars. If you have no idea what something costs I assume you can pay whatever you want. lets assume that teh budget is $24M and that adding 20% to teh budget for 3D, that is only $4.8M. where is all the money going? Have you even requested a break down of costs? seriuosly have tyou EVER seen an investment return 500%? NO studio ever does that. Enjoy the beach. watch teh waves and think about your money floating away. You have been given every warning red falg possible but you still just asume something amazing will happen. WHY? if you have money to throw away give it to charity or something worthwhile. why pay for Centineo's ski trip and other lavish lifestyle. That guy knows nothing about making movies.
